Pretty much the question in the title.  I've been trying to do it like in ME2, but it just hasn't been working for me.  Could someone weigh in on this with a confirmation towards the negative or affirmative?

Yes, there is a way and I forget how, did it involve melee while reloading?

Yeah. In ME2, it pushed the Claymore's reload time from a bit more than 2 seconds to a bit more than 1. I've been trying to do it the same way in ME3, but I haven't been able to.

You can still cancel reloading like you did in ME2. Use a power, melee, get in or out of cover, open a door etc. will cancel the animation, but you have to wait for the "click" or track the ammo count(when it's back to 1 you can cancel the animation). Using this has become more difficult though, in ME2 all weapons had the same reload time so it was easy to get into the rhythm regardless which weapon you were using - I used it all the time no matter the class or weapon I was using.

Having said that, the Claymore has such an insane reload time which makes using reload canceling rather pointless. She's no longer the ultimate CQC weapon, but instead has become a "hit and run" kinda thing. It's useful for an Infiltrator, but that's about it. There are also other shotguns that are far better in nearly every way and don't have the weight of a space station. It's a shame what Bioware has done to the coolest weapon of ME2 :(
