How do I play ME3 without Origin in the background?

Q: Is constant Origin connection required or
is it a single one off authentication when the game is first installed.
Is there also a limit to the number of installations available?
A: Mass Effect 3 will require a one time, single
authorization for the single player game. There is no limit to the
number of installs. Playing Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer will require a
constant connection.
I read this before purchasing the game and thought it would work like it says. If I cannot turn this program off while I play, I am highly dissapointed. Please help.

2. You don't need to be on-line...Unless you have DLC which will require it to be authenticated each time.
3.Why are you complaining here when the Origin forums are for problems with Origin?
...
...
4.Why are you a new user to these forums asking these questions.

Origin is known to take up valuable system resources even when inactive and they aren't meager amounts either, it is also considered spyware and adware by many and not proper to force it.
There is a crack that can bypass Origin you could probably download if you hate it that much.

Frankly, its quicker and easier to "google" an Origin removal file.
Origin scans EVERYTHING on your computer, collects information on what you have installed (all programs, not just EA programs). Also collects information on what sites you browse and more.
Plus, After Origin collects all that info, EA sells your information to 3rd parties.

Or, use a sandbox program to completely isolate it from your system. Comodo is a good free Antivirus/firwall/security program to use.

I'm not sure they sell it they say they don't somewhere.
In any case, just get a crack for the game, you own it after all, and bypass Origin entirely.

Just Origin? Yea, and "it takes up ""valuable"" system resources" and so do any other program. People these days don't even know what spyware and adware are.
spyware and adware is nothing but slur towards something they don't like.

OR we can assume people aren't dumb, you know because we aren't.
In any case, it takes up as much as a game for me sometimes, that's ridiculous.

The most straightforward way is to launch Origin, launch ME3, then close Origin. You need the Origin overlay to be able to join friends' games though.
This is what i was looking for. I tried doing this but the ME3 says it detected Origin was shut down and shuts down itself. Are you saying you got this to work?

I just tried it. It just doesn't shut the game down, only the EA galaxy at war thing.icephoenix181 wrote...

In any case, my browser is more bloated than Origin. Never seen it go above 110MB apart from a few general leaks in the older versions.

Origin takes up 100 mb at idle.

Point 2 is incorrect, you only need to authenticate the DLC once, the same as the main game.
And, re all you're points, so people don't like having to install 3rd party software to play their games, and they have every right to ask questions about it.

hmm, well this gives me hope. Maybe it is because it tells me that my DLC is messed up and I need to connect to alliance network. I get this message if I try to log out: "You cannot log out of Origin because Mass Effect 3 N7 Collector's Edition is running. Please close the game and try again." and if I press exit or close throug task manager it does close Mass Effect 3.
If I figure out how to connect to Alliance Network or whatever that error is, you think it will let me close it?

You have to have Origin running unless you use a sandbox/crack that will let you run the game without. Other's have discussed how to do that earlier.icephoenix181 wrote...

You can run the game with Origin not connect to the internet by disconnecting your computer from your modem, or just not having the modem on.
To get the game to register the DLC I had to have an ME3 save, I then connected Origin to the internet for a few minutes while I restarted the game and loaded that save. I then saved again, exited the game, exited Origin and disconnected from the internet. Ran ME3 again with Origin in off-line mode and all the DLC was there.
A complex pain in the arse procedure yes, but I have my DLC and I can keep Origin off the internet.
