What turns that ultimate tragedy into an unforgivable farce is the way BioWare did the rest of the ending. I'd be fine if the Citadel and everyone on it died, so long as I knew how my choices impacted the galaxy, I had resolution, and there weren't so many damn plot holes.
No, I think the whole razing of the Citadel deserves a bit more play. You've built up the defense forces, you know an awful lot of people there - think of all the shopkeepers who are gone! To have it fall w/o any visuals or any...anything is wrong. Also, to have it MOVE is wrong. Did everytone else know this thing had a motor? No one seems shocked that it is moved or asks "How" that I can recall and I'd at least like to know.
