DAO Characters

I have a half-dozen characters, but when I go to my profile and try to manage characters so that I can get a different avatar using one of my own characters, it tells me I have 0 characters.
I've tried the few things that are listed the site's FAQ on this, and I'm getting nothing.
Anyone else have the same problem and know how to fix it?
I have pretty much all DLC, patch 1.05 installed, no Awakening installed.

Next thing to check is that you haven't disabled (unticked) the "Upload Character Profile" box in the Options

That's not it, it's checked. Any other ideas?

You can also do a directed Google search by going to Google and typing in something like this in the search field:
site:social.bioware.com your search terms

Thanks for the advice- did a search and stumbled upon an old thread here talking about deleting characters using the profile diagnostics page. I'm not sure if that's what worked because only one of my characters got uploaded even afterwards- still nice to have an option..
Is that Bernard Hill in your display pic?

Close. Nicole Williamson as Merlin from the movie "Excalibur". I believe Mr. Hill did play Merlin in a CBS sitcom in the 80s.
Glad your issue appears resolved.

Hmm, I'm not picking up anything. Tried several different variations, but the only topics I find are ones that aren't resolved.
I even made an entirely new character and made a manual save, so he should uploaded... but he isn't.

Still, the social site forum is where this sort of thing should be addressed....

@Val- What thread, exactly, did you stumble on that helped you fix the issue?

I can't find the exact thread, but here's another with some info.Rafe34 wrote...
I have uninstalled, reinstalled, cleanly, no mods. STILL no uploading of characters. None of the mods change core game files, anway, but it was worth a shot.

I'll tell you what I did anyway and it might work for you too. First off, it's not the mods that are causing this.
1. If you have the developer console enabled (i.e. if you have -enabledeveloperconsole added to your shortcut) your game will not upload data.
2. The game will not upload from quicksaves- you will need to make a manual save.
3. The game uploads when the xml file changes so changing your gear/removing and re-equipping your gear or levelling up may help.
4. Character uploading is prioritized by the number/frequency of views your player profile page gets, or that's what the site maintains. Views, I believe are not restricted to other users. You could probably view your own player profile to trigger an upload.
Furthermore, go to your player profile page and click on the Profile Diagnostics button. If you see any errors (i.e., missing files for a character) there, delete that character and then try to force a new upload by going to that playthrough, then changing gear and/or making a manual save. If none of your characters have errors, (like what I experienced) pick one character and delete it, then try forcing an upload.
I hope this helps- I will try to find that thread but this is all the information I gathered from all the threads I read so I doubt you will need it. I also noticed that being logged into BSN while playing helps. I'm not sure if it is just my imgaination but my characters seem to upload when I play around on the site a lot.

I don't see ANY characters at all in my profile diagnostics. It's not just that I can't use their face as an avatar, the site doesn't recognize that I have any characters- yet I am getting achievements uploaded.

I understand your frustration. Some may say it is not a critical issue and ask you not to worry overmuch but it is a feature available on the site and it is supposed to work as such. Now, I tried visiting your page to check out your player profile- but I do not see a link to your Dragon Age player profile. Is it set to private?
Since you say you have no characters uploaded whatsoever, your issue seems rather different from mine. I can get my characters to be uploaded now and it seems to me that the site uploads the most recent save once you log on to the site and visit your own player profile.
Please let me know if there are any developments. I'm not the most qualified to tackle this issue but I *can* tell you what worked for me.

Are you playing on a Mac? I have the same issue and although DAO achievements will load, my characters won't. DA2 characters load no problem. I did some research into this a while back and came up with nothing so I gave up.

Yeah the achievements load fine and I have my profile set to update automatically and I have no mods.
The only thing I can think of is the location in which the character saves are in. Maybe the update system looks for it in a certain location and perhaps your saves are not located in that general area. But that is just a theory.

Regardless, all discussion of issues involving the social network should be held in this forum:
