The talent trees work a lot different than in DnD. Sleep being 3rd tier in this game (instead of an almost cantrip) says as much. From what I understand, everything is inked by spellpower. And unlike in DnD (NeverWinter Nights, Baldur's Gate) the spells aren't capped in scripting so much. So instead of a level 20 wizard casting fireball capped at 10d6, a level 20 mage in DA deals (roughly) 25 damage plus half their spell power plus an extra tick ot two of lesser damage
