I'm just wondering how useful low level speels will be at the higher levels (specifically offensive minded spells).  In DnD spells like sleep or daze were basically useless at high levels because no enemies would fail their saving throws.   What about in DA?

Will a spells like mind balst have a decent chance of paralysing high level opponents?  Will flame blast do so little damage it's basically useless?

The talent trees work a lot different than in DnD. Sleep being 3rd tier in this game (instead of an almost cantrip) says as much. From what I understand, everything is inked by spellpower. And unlike in DnD (NeverWinter Nights, Baldur's Gate) the spells aren't capped in scripting so much.  So instead of a level 20 wizard casting fireball capped at 10d6, a level 20 mage in DA  deals (roughly) 25 damage plus half their spell power plus an extra tick ot two of lesser damage

Here's the link to the wiki. It explains it much better: dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Spells

Edit: Oops, I didn't look at how long ago this was posted. You've probably figured all this out on your own by now..

How does someone end up reading a 4 month old thread by accident, anyway?

Putting in the keyword "spells" did the ..err.. trick.
