So I'm playing through the game as a dual wielding berserker so far, and the time has come to choose my second specialization. I have Alistair as a Templar/Champion already, but considering I don't feel Templar or even Reaver are even viable options for my main, I'm wondering if the Champion buffs in the party stack, or if it's just redundant and I'm better off sticking solely with Berserker.
Two Champions?

Unless you plan on going all the way to superiority (which would be a good idea), you could pass it, it doesn't stack.

The attack/defense bonuses from Rally stack if you have two Champions running it, yes.

Has this been verified? I'm skeptical that they would, given how many other things in the game work. I haven't played a champion and don't have any personal knowledge of them, though.

Confirmed, my first character was a Templar/Champion, same as Alistair. Consequently I rarely used both of them at the same time, but when I got Loghain, he was already a Champion, and I did use him. And, to my great delight, the bonus' of two Rallies stacked.

Yeah I just checked back and I was wrong. The hud is misleading because it only shows one buff, but both are taken into account. 2 champion/templars were very fun to play with, tough as hell, good crowd control on demand (holy smite/war cry), dispel all annoying magic through cleanse area, and then throw in a bard to stack more party buffs.
The good thing about not having a mage in your party is that you actually get one more person to use all those physical attack, defense and damage buffs.

Why isn't Reaver a good option again?

So the damage increase isn't worth it?
Well it's either dual Champions or Dual Templars then. =P

Templars would be the best as the mental resist is nothing to laugh at and both have a knockback. Smite being ranged = better than superiority knockback. Though champion is quite good.

Well it seems like Templar has more benefit if you're going to have two of them whereas Champion would only have the greater bonus if you carefully specced the entire party, which I have not....

Note that smite is a stun, not a knockdown, and the aoe of holy smite is much smaller than that of warcry w/ superiority. But you get to use it at range, which makes it worthy to have both. The damage is terribad though, including on enemy casters (which it was supposed to counter...).

What about Templar's other benefits? Do they outweigh Champion's other benefits for the character?

A lot of mental resist and extra damage against magic. Also no, the smite is a knockdown at least the visual "stun is" the raidus might be smaller but frankly it's perfect for dealing with archers or allowing your mage time enough to wind up a blood wound or mass paralysis.

Omg ****.. I can't decide now...
Except, I guess there's only room for one Knight Commander, and since that's Alistair I can't wear the cool templar armor(the other templar armor is steel and sucks).
