I'm not sure I should put this on a public forum pertinent to the future of Dragon Age titles as I believe it could possibly encompass the plot of the game DA3.  It's simple war game strategy but it might be what Bioware plans to have happen.  I wouldn't want to be banned for making them rewrite their game.

At the end of DA2 it's likely that an Exalted March will soon occur.  Just because an expansion named Exalted March was cancelled doesn't mean there won't be one in DA3.  We can expect one.

Now, during an Exalted March, much of the lands of those under the Orlesian Chantry will be emptied of warriors and mages who march for the cause.  No darkspawn fill the lands (except perhaps in the Anderfels).  This provides an excellent opportunity for invasion from forces that have been building up strength.  This could mean the Qun could invade.  Typically, the Qun have little defense against magic so perhaps the Qun might find or could have already sought unusual and unexpected support in Tevinter.

Often it is that a distracted power who concentrates their entire force in one front will find themselves subject to battle on three fronts.  Tevinter has much to gain from a blazingly swift assault on Orlais during the Exalted March into Kirkwall (or wherever the Apostates are maintaining their center of defense).  After any such assault, Tevinter might reasonably offer safe passage and sanctuary to the Apostates and *any* mage under the Orlesian Chantry.  Some people have already gainsaid this possibility, noting that the Magisters of Tevinter mislike competition; one must understand that this sanctuary would exist entirely to deplete the Orlesian chantry of powerful, independent-minded mages.  Such people make excellent assault teams.  And the Circle would no longer have as many mages to defend themselves with.

Possibly, Orlais will have been subjected to momentary rule by Apostates and Blood Mages and Tevinter mages and soldiery.  At that time, as the Exalted March recoils and attempts to redirect its armies, the Qun would attack in ... The Free Marches.  Rivain is not Andrastean (and already has Qunari presence) while the primary powers of Rivain would probably not devote much effort to defend Orlais especially if they were given substantial promises of liberty (and some monetary reward) for maintaining neutrality or even provide assistance to the Qun.  Also, to attack the eastern coastline of the Marches would demand that the armies split into Orlais (to the west) and to the long eastern coast of the Marches, perhaps even into the "capital" city of Ferelden should the Qun be numerous enough.

This strategem would work and shows all signs of working except there will be problems: the elves and dwarves and the primary player character.  While City Elves would either run to their brethern or side with the invading Qunari, the Free Elves would want to fight against being enslaved by the Qunari and the Tevinters.  They would probably offer alliance with the Orlesian Chantry in exchange for their own lands and liberty.

The dwarves do not largely love Andraste but neither are they fond of being subject to Tevinter rule (they have been allied to Tevinter before but presently it's not likely they're companionable).  Unless Orzammar has received an ambassador or agent from Tevinter, they're going to probably remain neutral (more likely if Endrin is ruling).  Finally, the player character might manage to sway the dwarves to side with the Chantry (or with Tevinter, citing ancient treaties and trade).

Also the player character *might* be able to enlist the Antivan Crows (all of them) to help the war effort.  After all, an assassin without magic will probably not find their place in Tevinter, especially if that assassin is not a native.  Secondly, it's easier to work without a powerful and oppressive Empire breathing down their necks.  Finally, the Qun probably would not give a leader of assassins money and excessive luxury even if their job continues in similar vein.

Of course, the player character could choose to assist the Orlesian Chantry, the Tevinter Imperium, or even the Canaries.

Also, the Qunari are peeved with Orlais. A deal with Tevinter could give them half of Orlais or a quarter of it, considering the Kossith will probably have taken a large segment of Ferelden and possibly all of the Freemarches.
