How was shepard able to call the normandy down for a pick up, despite being near a reaper, in the middle of a hot zone? Simple. Shepard saw that his friends had had enough and called a cab. Could this be the first step to seeing his own problem with alcohol? Very touching.
The new scenes show shepards name being added to the wall in all but the destroy option... this emotional moment clearly shows shepard does eventually complete AA and get on with his life. The flashes he sees are obviously symbolism for building his own future.
EXCEPT for destroy, and in the rejection ending. A sad but sobering reminder, you can't always get clean on your first run through detox.

On the subject on the newly announced Mass Effect™ 3: Extended Cut
even more proof!
There's an extended version of the movie The Hangover. what is it called?

Too many words? Let this here picturebox do the work for you!
(summary of the theory, now with 100 percent more official youtube!)
only bioware has the artistic integrity to make an entire game a drunken hallucination.
game design document showing a martini glass. proof.
an extended bender scene, why is it green, how does this scene tie into the ending?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLQpCSgN-lU ashely drunken proof
(is asheley real or just a part of shepards mind making sense of this new reality?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjymkPW1XNs&feature=related more proof that shepard is in fact drunk, but aria's role in this has not yet been discovered, maybe you have to beat insanity without drinking any booze?
Think about it guys, just how many times in the game has alcohol been present. Off the top of my head I can think of the two bars on omega. the ships bar. drinking with the doctor. Tali getting drunk, Ashely getting drunk, implicating james vega was involved. On the upper part of the citadel, you shoot... bottles! Why are they shooting bottles instea dof drinking them, is garrus your sponsor? top of citadel = moral high ground.
What does all this mean? What is bioware trying to say?!
It is my firm belief that mass effect 3 never happened. You see, theres a scene in the omega bar where a man gives you concotion and you awaken in an alley of vorcha. now bioware made sure the vorcha talked about how they wanted to eat some fresh meat. why? why would they give us this clue. They wouldnt, unless it meant something!
you always see mordin behind a counter, everytime you see him, a
counter? or a bar. because he is a bartender. he mixes shepard's drinks.
why? because someone else mgiht have gotten it wrong.
Why so many references to booze? what does it all mean?
I submit to you that the entirety of events that follow that moment are nothing more than the boozed fueled hallucinations of commander shepard. if any of that happened the vorcha would have eaten shepard while he was passed out, obviously. therefore it didn't.
I anxiously await the hangover dlc, so we can finally get these questions answered!
First of all this is NOT INDOCTRINATION THEORY. indoctrination theory is nothing but a bunch of people taking a
theme of the game and applying facts completely out of context to support a very unlikely idea. We don't do that
here only facts!
edit:
why are there no fat people? beer googles.
why is it called a reputation BAR?
why are everyones eyes so glassy? because they are drunk.
crucible, galatic super weapon or alarm clock?
notice the colors of the booze in normandy's bar, red and blue. this clearly symbolizes shepards morality being affected by booze as the story continues.
Why do we never see tali's alleged straw, why would they leave out showing us the straw unless it was a clue that it wasnt real? think about it.
red sand is a brand of alcohol that gets mentioned through out the games.
that volus guy, niftu cal, that guy was druuunk.
The Illusive Man smokes cigarettes, people often smoke cigarettes in... bars. bars where they drink... alcohol. it all makes sense.
Marauder Shields was a bouncer, trying to tell you that you've had enough. or was he part of shepards addiction not letting him leave (wake up) you decide!
what about husks, cybernetic creatures or drunken patrons running away from something (what bioware tell us!) which makes more sense?! are they alcoholics trying to take your booze? Do they simply want to dance?

Hold the wine!
Because otherwise we'd have to accept that all those events actually happened, and that's enough to drive a man to drink.
Please share any clues i might have missed so we can piece this epic mystery together!
