I need some help working out a kink in the theory, it's driving me nuts and no amount of alcholic consumption is helping so far.

What about the Starchild at the end?

Everybody knows kids can't (and shouldn't) drink alcohol and most bars won't even accept their kind (they're kind of like droids). So what's the deal, is it some kind of metaphor about Shepard's lost innocence trying to reclaim his soul from the "evil" of alcoholism? I've never seen this kid before, how can he be so important to the story unless he represents something in Shepard's subconcious? Does Shepard have a phobia of children because they aren't old enough to screw up their lives by the bottle yet? Or is the child really a mirror image of him, a grim reminder of what his life has become since taking to the sauce?

I need some answers before I run out of drinks.

i believe the kid is actually shepards child from a failed marriage. left him at soccer practice 12 years ago and never picked him up. the divorce makes more sense now.
