No seriously, I like Liara. I think she's a great character, has an awesome voice and is my LI in my 2nd playthrough. But at the same time I can't stand the way she's forced on us. Yeah, you know the drill. Gonna run it by you anyway for those who don't know.
Bioware hasn't officially announced it (yet), but Liara is canon love interest. They can state all they want that there is no canon, but the development and attention she's been getting speaks otherwise. She has her own comic, DLC, statuette and 3 different t-shirt designs. She is plot armor, and has the longest sex scene by far and is the only one that's actually nude.
Why is Bioware doing this? It could be that the writer plays favorites with her, or it could be because in the inevitable scenario where they eventually do canonize the trilogy, Liara will be the easiest LI to write as canon, given that she can live 1000 years and can be romanced by both male and female.
Liara rubs me the wrong way.

Even though all but one of my Shepard's left Liara for someone else in ME2 I really like her. Always saw her as my Shepard's closest friend and loved the way it felt like that in ME3.

This, I actualy liked Ash in ME 1 and I didn't find her racist (narrow minded but not racist). I was pissed about Horizon in ME 2 but to a degree I could understand because from the outside looking in it would seem Shepard is with Cerberus now. But after Mars she made it to my permanent crap list.

She's the only ME1 squadmate that cannot be killed off. Even though she's hot damn blue alien LI, I feel bad for people who didn't romance her.
