Liara did win a whole lot of extra fans in LotSB :P

Maybe Bioware started out with Ashley as the canon LI but after ME2, they changed their mind

I'm just gonna make a wild guess here, but I think Mac Walters had a lot of influence on this one. We didn't really see Liara start to get really forced on us until around the time Drew left. Again that's just my speculation.

I wanted to throw her out of the Airlock in 3 after giving her the benefit of the doubt in 2....

This,  I actualy liked Ash in ME 1 and I didn't find her racist (narrow minded but not racist).  I was pissed about Horizon in ME 2 but to a degree I could understand because from the outside looking in it would seem Shepard is with Cerberus now.  But after Mars she made it to my permanent crap list.

The mars thing i could take.... very barely (she was not my LI on main shep). Than she just would not stop with it. It came to the point where i was giving serious thought to try and getting her killed during Udina thing.. i just opt'd to never talk to her again while on the normandy except for drunk scene.

Well she was the one that gave Cerberus Shepard's body so he/she can be brought back to life.

Though in Shepard's case, being dragged from Intergalactic Heaven to fight the devil machines from dark space hell, he/she would either be very grateful or be saying "goddamn it".

And why do people call themselves *LI*-mancers? You're not goddamn mages, haha. I get ro-mancer, but c'mon.

The thing about Ashley is, it would have been way more interesting if they had taken Vega's N7 advice arc and just turned it into Ashley asking Shepard for advice about being a Spectre. More interesting character arc for Ashley, and you can ditch Vega in favor of Wrex, who would have been way more interesting to talk with given the situation on Tuchanka.

PS I loved Liara in ME3. Dat "Name in the stars" scene. It just happened that the stuff in the game was easy for her to be a relevant character in (From Ashes, Crucible, Thessia, etc).

Why no love for Miranda? She was smoking hot for a digital creation and her voice was pretty damn sexy. I went Liara in ME1(also did Ashely but chose Liara for the second play through and the import into ME2), Miranda in ME2 which I enjoyed thoroughly(Still forcibly did Jack in the cargo bay as well. Double dip!), and Liara in ME3. Now I was going for Ashely at first to make it a love square but she started to annoy the hell out of me, and I also learned that Miranda was going to be a long distance relationship so I said F' that. Liara was the only logical choice.

PS: It is clearly evident that Liara is definitely the LI of choice from the writers. But I liked her the best anyway. Wish she looked like Miranda though.

Idk, maybe it has something to do with the fact that ashley looks ugly in ME1, so ugly she needed a complete makeover. Why did you LI something so ugly anyway?

I feel like BioWare did their best to make Kaidan and Ashley as annoying as possible after the first game. ME2 was short so its bearable, but the bull**** just doesn't let up in ME3. It grew tiresome defending my actions to someone that should be with me 110% after proving I'm not with Cerberus anymore.

Why are people so focused on my signature? Yeah i romanced Ashley, so what? If she was forced the same way Liara was, i'd have a problem with it too and would feel bad for people who didn't romance her.

Personally, not a huge fan of Liara's VO work, and I do agree the Liara romance seemed to be heavily favored by Bioware. Note she is the only former squadmember who cannot possibly be dead at this point.

I don't hate her though, she seems cool to me otherwise.

Well, lets play Bill Nye and consider the following:

Mass Effect 1:
Ashley is a Xenophobic woman who constantly speaks out of line to the other alien squadmates- Liara included
Liara is a bookworm of sorts initially intrigued by the beacon just as much as she is Shepard.

Mass Effect 2:
Ashley ****es and moans about you being with Cerberus despite the fact it isn't your choice
Liara recovers your body from the Shadow Broker so that you can be resurrected and become the new shadow broker

Mass Effect 3:
Ashley still ****ing about Cerberus and not trusting you and has some pretty atrocious dialogue, almost shoots you.
Liara makes a time capsule detailing Shepard in it forever, helps decode Crucible, remains by Shepard no matter what

But hey at least Ashley got good looking in Mass Effect 3 right? Who cares about personality?

5 Male Shepard play throughs up to the end of ME2. Of all the female characters Liara is the only one to really annoy me. Disgustingly sweet and naive in 1, Rude cold heart "information broker" in 2 and in 3 (1 of 2 play throughs) she was a chore. I actually stopped visiting her as I did my post-mission walk arounds through the ship

Edit

BTW my preference in order is

Ashley
Kasumi
Miranda/Tali
Jack
Samara
Liara

Yea...ME3 she seems sorta forced with the whole deep friendship aspect. I was pretty indifferent to her for 2 games so I didn't really like I was her BFF by no. 3.

No. She's still ugly, but I guess since half of her face is covered, it is an improvement.

I know. Keep trying to be my best friend and I was like "Lady please! Me and Garrus are gonna go blow crap up."

I actually really liked her personality before i cared about her looks. I thought she was fantastic in ME1, but will admit the writers could've done a better job with her character in ME3.
