Meh, I prefer Tali myself. But in ME1 I went for Liara over Ashley because;

A:Ashley is a dog-faced racist that likes to recite poetry
B:Liara was a loveable bookworm that was interested in Shepard and socially akward to adorableness.
C: Liara is a hot blue alien with a magnificent body and personality(Already mentioned but I like that).

But I had a hard time choosing in ME3...New sexy as hell Liara or Tali. I went with Tali. Didn't seem all that right to romance and then break up with her so quickly. Liara had two years to mourn and move on. Still my best friend next to Garrus and Joker.

Liara or Tali? That's what multiple play-throughs are for, buddy.

And I agree Ashley does look like a dog. And her poetry is corny as hell.

Liara is sorta forced, Garrus is sorta forced (although he can die), whatevs. Didn't stop me from romancing someone else ~ It's only annoying if you think about it too much.

That is what it will always turn into. Instead of people simply staying calm and giving reasons why they disagree, they have to counter attack. My LI is hated by tons of people, I don't care... I'll back him up, but I'm not gonna attack another character to do so.

Agreed. I even mentioned in the OP that I really like Liara. My issue is with how the writers are handling her character instead of being more fair to the other LIs.

I dont hate Liara... but you cant help but think shes somebodies favorite on the writing staff... You cant kill her and you cant not get her.

thats forced, Im romancing her this time around and she has a great personality and a great romance arc. The issue I think many have is that she seems a little... "too close" when shes NOT your LI.

The other character accused of being a writers pet is Garrus, but you can choose not to get him in ME1 and you can kill him in ME2.

I'm sorry I like Liara but she very much IS forced on you whether you like her or not... cant be killed and cant be ignored... Hell Shepard doesent even get as much plot armor as her! (he dies )

Some characters really got the short stick for the romance/interaction parts of the game... Can't say I blame people for being upset. I wanted to go back just to see what the relationships were like with other characters, but its making me very unmotivated to do so. I'm not gonna blame Liara and say she's a bad character for it - I like her well enough... just the writing's fault. They coulda spared a couple extra scenes for some, I think.

I think Liara feels more forced to those of us PS3 peons that didn't play ME1, too. I liked her character well enough in ME3, though. Also, Aria is way more attractive than Liara. >.> Liara's face just looks weird.

I agree, Garrus is sorta forced however the scenes with Garrus are SO MUCH less annoying than with Liara.

Yeah maybe.

I just hope that a few years down the line, things don't get canonized. The way things have been going on with the series lately, it all just seems like they're setting up for a canon.

I like the character of Liara, we all do! (except for a few you like OP)

She's a mystical, intelligent and lovely character. My Shepard's Love interest. A very well flesh out and written character.

The Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC is one of the best segments in the series.

Ashley feels too much like a tomboy to me. I didn't like her hairstyle in ME3, it didn't suit her personality. I prefered her look in ME1.

Funny how some jealousy arises when having more than 1 LI, knowing that today's standards are already less restrictive than 20 years ago, that were still less restrictive than 20 .... and so on. I would have thought that being enough far in the future, extrapolating from current trends, things would be much different, especially since it's even possible to go with other species without it being a real problem...

Oh! Almost forgot : yes, to me Liara seemed a bit "forced" and I felt strange having her take me to the horizon when she mind-merged with me. I was never really interested in anything with her throughout the series, and all of a sudden she grabs my arm...
