Funny how some jealousy arises when having more than 1 LI, knowing that today's standards are already less restrictive than 20 years ago, that were still less restrictive than 20 .... and so on. I would have thought that being enough far in the future, extrapolating from current trends, things would be much different, especially since it's even possible to go with other species without it being a real problem...

Hope, future or not, people will always want to feel and be special for the one person only.

And also, in ME1 and ME2, it was mostly romance stage. It only gets to the 'I love you' stage in ME3. So the relationship builds up very nicely throughout the series.

My entire problem with Liara, and to a certain extent Garrus, is that with any ensemble cast you wind up having one character getting all the lines and chewing up the scenery while the other get short shifted and not very well developed.

If all the other characters had been given time to develop as much as these two had I think things might have been different. Such as:

Ashley: They did a descent job of showing her shedding her xenophobia (no its not racism). They should have played this up more and showed her starting to trust the other races. If she is the LI have her get over the Cerberus thing FAST. If not LI then no need to worry about it.

Jack: Again descent job evolving her but from raging psycho to not quite friendly school teacher in only 6 months?

Two examples but all the character, LI or not, just didn't have anywhere near the time put into them that Liara and Garrus did. Garrus, in my opinion, was the only character that was done right. While sorta feeling forced, he didn't come across as clingy. Liara felt forced AND clingy.

Yeah they way some of the LI were treated in ME3 was kinda painful to watch. ME2 had us spend 80% of the game getting to know these characters, and then they're just tossed to the side in ME3.

Agreed. I even mentioned in the OP that I really like Liara. My issue is with how the writers are handling her character instead of being more fair to the other LIs.

Would I want more content with Jack? Of course!
But I decided to support the idea of a DLC, to get more content with her.
You on the other hand, decided to open a thread, which is destined to become full of rage and flame.

Well done. ;)

Truth: They will not care if the content Liara received is unfair in your opinion, compared to the ME2 LI.
They will however care if you tell them, that they can have your money for a futur DLC.

I've already made posts and voted on polls to contribute to the idea of LI DLC.

Well, knowing that a LI can outlive me by 900 years or so, I wouldn't expect too much!

Still, the main problem I have with the game, besides the Star-Trek type of almost universal physionomy of alien species (I would not LI an Anari or a Volus, still...), is the lack of sense of a real difference in social behavior with today's, or even between species.

Oh god, yes, Liara is very forced on those who wanted to be friends with her.

I used to think she was okay until I saw how hard Bioware was pimping her over the other characters. I was like "Um, hey, guys...? What about Kaidan? Ash? Garrus? Tali? Wrex? AND THE ME2 CAST?!" I just feel that it's so damn unfair to just elevate ONE character over others at cost of wanting more time with the other people you care about. I am all about character equality and I also feel that Liara is also unfairly treated by Bioware themselves because it seems that she's the Token Hot Piece of Alien Azure to nail rather than a resourceful, intelligent character that she is.

I can't even put the rose colored glasses back on as much as I want to. :(

I'm with you on this, OP. Liara gets most of the screen time in ME3, while other squaddies suffer for it, even other ME3 permanent ones. For example, VS - they really have nothing much to say to you when they get on the Normandy, and they don't interact with other people aboard. Wtf with that? They had much more dialogue in leaked script, but big chunk of it was cut. But not Liara's.

I didn't particularly like her in ME1, became annoyed and somewhat creeped out at her in ME2, started to hate her in ME3 - too damn forced on the player for my tastes.
If anything, I'd rather prefer more ME2 squaddies screen time - they really got shoved under the rug in ME3. I especially feel bad for those who had any of them as LI.

Not that I want to start a pissing match. But I personally found Ashely to be really annoying. Granted, I'm a FemShep, and she's not a love interest. But by mid game, I wanted to kick her ass off my ship. She kept doubting me, and even almost got people killed on the Citadel. The first time, I understand her not trusting me. But by the middle of the game, I was like...are you kidding me...

Anyways, on to the topic. I think it's kind of a shame that Liara got more focus from the writers. I agree, it's been evident that she was the Canon love interest. And that's fine. But I wish they would have spent equal time on the other LI in ME3. They felt underwhelming, and made the investment you put in the other games, feel...undercut.

Even though all but one of my Shepard's left Liara for someone else in ME2 I really like her. Always saw her as my Shepard's closest friend and loved the way it felt like that in ME3.

Yea, that scene with Liara just before the final assault was fantastic.  I honestly thought it was more powerful from the friendship take than as a LI scene.  I was holding back tears at that point in the goodbyes, that was the final straw, her and garrus man... JEEZ!

I like Liara, but it annoys me that she's the only one that gets a semi-decent sex scene. The others are either laughable because it's the same silly "clothes on" sex scene like in Dragon Age or they just fade to black. I think it's a wasted opportunity.

Meh, I prefer Tali myself. But in ME1 I went for Liara over Ashley because;

A:Ashley is a dog-faced racist that likes to recite poetry
B:Liara was a loveable bookworm that was interested in Shepard and socially akward to adorableness.
C: Liara is a hot blue alien with a magnificent body and personality(Already mentioned but I like that).

But I had a hard time choosing in ME3...New sexy as hell Liara or Tali. I went with Tali. Didn't seem all that right to romance and then break up with her so quickly. Liara had two years to mourn and move on. Still my best friend next to Garrus and Joker.

Liara or Tali? That's what multiple play-throughs are for, buddy.

And I agree Ashley does look like a dog. And her poetry is corny as hell.

"Look at me! I'm a tough female marine but that's okay, because I remind you that I have a vagina by reciting ****ty poetry. That makes me deep."  Pttff

"Look at me! I use to be a shy bookworm who all of a sudden became a psychotic bloodthirsty information broker in just 2 years to show you how edgy and dangerous I am. Don't want to romance me? Too bad I'll keep bringing up our chemistry even if you keep denying it!  You can't escape eternity RAWRRR.

See I can be a douche too.

I accidentally romanced Liara. TWICE.

I don't hate her, but it's harder NOT to get into a relationship with her than it is to get into one with any other character.

The plot armor got annoying too, I admit. I felt something for everyone else on my team because, well, I knew if I screwed up, they'd actually die in the games (and might not come back), but I felt no need to ever try and protect Liara; there was no need, no emotional investment, because I could be the worst leader ever and she'd still be just fine all the way through the series. Even if she gets blasted by Harbinger beam, she magically pops up on the crashed Normandy.

Sounds weird, but I would like Liara more if she actually could die and perish like everyone else. Instead, I feel little for her because nothing I could ever do impacts her role in the game. Commander Shepard can be as Paragon and Renegade as he or she likes, and Liara will still stick around and do her plot role as needed without fail. She changes the least and thus is the least interesting to me.

My two cents.

Never really liked Liara all that much, ever since ME1. Back then it wasn't so much as 'forced', but it still felt like the obvious LI for the whole galactic unity thing. Now playing ME3, it does seem like the whole BFF thing is a little awkward seeing as how we were never that close.

Personally, I liked Tali better, but a lot of that was the mystery.

Be prepared to be rated as 1 star for the thread by Liara mancers who don't realize their character is a "writer's pet". She was over represented, even if you didn't romance her and you turned her down if you did. To be honest a lot of scenes like the "time capsule" scene, should have been LI only. And the LI's that started in ME2 should have had equal treatment in terms of screen time and dialogue.

She has some serious plot armor, and is the only squad mate from a previous game that you couldn't kill off. (Not counting EDI, she is a new "Squad mate") Either way, the favoritism is clear and leaves a bad taste for those who romanced anybody else.

I romanced Tali in my canon playthrough, and Garrus in my femshep playthrough. These chars have it somewhat better but...I feel bad for the others who got much less.
