Yeah I'm trying to recreate my sleu of Sheards that I had about a year ago (my old 360 finally ran it's course and I was locked out of my gamertag for some bulls**t reason that Microsoft refused to do anything about). Basically I'm wondering if there's a way to get through Mass Effect 1 quickly so I can get to playing ME2 and ME3. It's not that I hate Mass Effect 1(in fact I refuse to start ME2 without having a completed game ready), but it's not anywhere near as fun as its sequels, at least in my opinion. So if anyone can give me some tips on getting through the game in a fast yet fulfilling manner- if such a thing even exists- I'd appreciate it.

If you're not worried about hitting level 50, just do the main missions in your journal. A good order to do it in is once you're a Specter and leave the Citadel, hit Therum to get Liara then go to Feros, Noveria, Virmire, and Ilos.

I'd say you're missing out, but to each their own.  I love Mass Effect and go through doing everything...I'm usually about level 53/54 after the first playthrough and that's without getting out of the mako to farm exp when I don't have to.
But since you've already played it a couple times I understand.

THIS. Stick with the main story missions and you'll be done in about 14 hours or less  if you're fast about it and know where to go. I'd also recomend doing at least the "Missing Marines" sidequest as opens a chain of events dealing with the Shadow Broker and Cerberus. It's a nice prelude of things to come...

I do want to do some side quests, but only the ones that have an affect in the sequels. Things like convincing Conrad to stop being a gushing fanboy and stay at home is one example. Other things like spending fifteen minutes exploring a planet and looking for minerals and sh** is just a waste of time to me.

This and a couple of others (smoothing things over between the Elcor diplomat, the Turian general and the Consort is one) seems to be skippable if only because the same outcome happens in ME2 no matter what you do. Conrad's the extreme example of this - I actually got him killed once, yet he still turned up alive and well and annoying on Ilium exactly the same as when I'd threatened him with a gun. The only thing I haven't tried is ignoring him completely in ME1, but I bet he still turns up anyway.

No, he doesn't show up then, I know because I've played with non-imported Shepards sometimes. He's bugged though, he always says that you put a gun on his face regardless of how you handle it in ME1... so now I usually put the gun in his face anyway, just for the satisfaction.

OP, you may want to take a look at this: http://masseffect.wi.../wiki/Importing
