Watchguard of the Reaching I think that the middle statue is sword down - so it should be bowl, sword up, sword down ![]()
this isn't something for quest solutions but I don't know where else to go. In the old forum I knew how to place quotes in my posts - but in here I not got a clue. The quote button gives me a blank quote 'bar' but not how to put someone's comment in there. Help? Please? I'll remember you on my birthday ![]()

ok got it now
Jarvia can be complicated. A few things to be aware of:
1) She is surrounded by tripwires for traps (fire bombs, I believe).
2) She will disappear into stealth and move many times (very annoying).
3) When her health starts to drop, she will call for her men to help her (watch your back).
Depending on what your PC is (mage, warrior, rogue), make sure you have at least one warrior (preferably a tank with "Threaten" and "Taunt"), a mage (preferably a healer), and a rogue in your party (I like Zevran because he can do some serious damage as a dual-wielder). Wynne can help heal your party when you're taking a beating, so unless your PC is a healer mage, I would suggest bringing her along. I usually focus all of my attention on Jarvia immediately, letting the rest of my team take out her minions. Be ready to use health poultices, and if necessary, pause and switch to your other team members, giving each an individual command (group heal, eat a health poultice, stun, etc.) before resuming the fight.
This is my strategy, and I usually can defeat her without many problems. Hope it helps!
I have been unable to prevail in the Jarvia skirmish at Orzammar. Any suggestions? I would like to advance the game and continue playing. Thanks
Yes - take Wynnne to defeat Jarvia. I also like to have a mage use Curse of Mortality. Not only does it keep on killin' but it marks where the enemy is. And if they happen to duplicate, triplicate etc then com will show which enemy is real and which are bogus.
Thank you for compiling this ![]()
At Jarvia's, all squishies can hide behind the pillars and from there buff/heal the tank and wreak all kinds of havoc on the enemy, like taking potshots at enemies diagonally opposite, fling fireballs or light infernos. Enemies getting close to the tank can be coned and flameblasted from behind a pillar (or through it). This makes the whole thing a walk in the park. It's also convenient for stashing the non-combattant companions of a soloing Warden.
Mind Blast uncloaks stealthed bogeys, and AoE spells can be used to fish for them.
keller63 as per dragon bones there's a mod for that on nexusmods.com
I haven't read every page, but there's something super easy to miss in Orzammar.
Read the inscription on the throne in the palace of orzammar, and there are three tiles that get pushed in when stood upon, two in the room itself and one in the entry hall. Get your companions to stand on all three of them at the same time after reading the inscription and a dragon will appear with some nice loot after you kill it.
dragonflight - very cool. Sounds like fun.
In the Denerim market there is a dwarf merchant opposite Gorim. I want what's in his chests but can't because a key is required and I can't pickpocket him. Any ideas?
I think you're referring to Master Tilver's chests. If you do the "stealing" part of Slim Couldry's questline, you'll get to see what's inside. I believe it's the third stealing quest.
Thanks MadHarrigan. I have always done Slim Couldry's break and enter opportunities, not his stealing ones. Maker save Ferelden - my GW is to be Queen?
I enjoy his stealing quests more than the break-and-enter ones because of the potential hilarity some of them provide. Flirt with Tilver, especially if you play a male. It's hysterical. Plus, the final stealing quest gives you the opportunity to really stick it to Loghain. Priceless.
Also, if you do the stealing quests, you get the title of "The Dark Wolf," which actually becomes relevant during part of Awakening.
Thanks again Harridan - I always like a bit of hysteria. However - if I become the Dark Wolf - then who is that in Amaranthine?
And please can someone explain metagaming?
Metagaming is making decisions as the source of the ominous clicking sounds, not as the in-game character. For example, to get certain achievements, to unlock specialisations, to maximise XP or kill count, whatever. Letting the Warden learn stealing to unlock Couldry's quest, or making failed stealing attempts in order to get certain bonus encounters.
@gottaloveme
The Dark Wolf in Amaranthine is an imposter who is capitalizing on your infamy and general criminal awesomeness.
You can actually call him on it and tell him you're the Dark Wolf, and I believe he says something along the lines of he's surprised because he thought the real Dark Wolf was imprisoned or something (It's been a while since I've played Awakening, so I don't remember the exact dialogue.).

The Dark Wolf in Awakening is a copy-cat trying to cash in on your reputation. Still skilled, but he's using your fame to his advantage.
And metagaming is taking knowledge you've gained from a previous playthrough to apply it to a current one. Say you know how a quest will turn out if you make such and such choice. It's using your knowledge of the game to play it in such a way to get desired results.
@dragonflight
thanks - seems I've been doing that for some time now
@zjarcal
what is blond pony?
