I tried importing the characters I made from the DA CC, and the human females all have distorted faces, including the one I'm using as my forum avatar. What's the point of the CC if I'm forced to edit/remake my character anyhow?

*While I'm already complaining, still can't register my game nor redeem any of the codes here*

Well obviously it's better for something to work than not work, (unless it's a puppy stabbing robot or something) but I'd say the CC's function was primarily as a demo of sorts and only secondarily as a tool to premake your character.

Wow seriously you are making excuses for Bioware, Mr. Fanboy!
The purpose of having the CC early is so that we can customize characters to our heart content to be used on day one. If the act of importing chars is going to force us to recreate them all over, the CC becomes pointless.

All my characters become messed up once they are imported to the full game.

You were just making a joke, right? You were not seriously defending crappy software, were you?

By any chance did you try to "modify" any of your characters after creating them? I found very early on that using modify after creating a character would alter the appearance.

I'm trying to fix one of my characters because the creator kept resetting her tattoo (the one I have as my avatar, in fact), but as soon as I change anything, no matter how minor, it resets her to a preset. It really makes me not want to bother playing. I spent a lot of time getting this character perfect, and now I can't fix her to look how I want?

I don't have the game yet, so I can't verify whether or not importing characters into it will cause them to become messed up. The demo character-creator does still serve a purpose though:

I've made around a dozen, if not more, characters that I've been satisfied with, and another score or so that I wasn't too pleased with. I saved the good ones, thinking I could use them in the game eventually. Even though it appears as though I won't be able to do that, I'll still have the experience I got with the character creator before the release of the game.

I know what's possible, what's not possible, what looks good, what doesn't look good, and what works and what doesn't. What that does is ensuring that I'll have the skill to make characters I'm satisfied with right off the bat. That's at least something.

Plus, I think the Character Creator was mostly intended as hype to begin with. It's likely little but promotional material akin to the trailers, and never intended as a 'service to the community'.

How do I even upload my Character?

How do I even upload my Character?

When you finish your character, the final screen has a 'Save' button & an 'Upload Info' button. Save the character, then click that 'Upload Info' button. The current wait time for the character to make it to this Social Site (as of the time of this post) is roughly 24 hours.

Hope I helped. Image IPB

Edit: Sepultro, my apologies, my memory buggered up on me. I had a wrong button label listed in my instructions, but I spotted the mistake while I was tweaking my Main Character, & have now fixed the info on this post. Hope it's more helpful now. Image IPB

I too had this problem; at first I thought it was just that I had not properly saved one of the characters; then I checked all six and realized they ALL were Very Wrong. It was disheartening to suddenly be delayed when I was set to jump into the game.

i was having this same problem but may have found a workaround?

i noticed if, after selecting one of the characters i had made and going to the initial set up screen (choose sex, race, class, etc), if i hit previous (back to the character select screen), then next again, the proper settings were loaded.

edit - my mistake - go to the inital setup screen, then hit next one more time to get to the actual appearance editor.  *then* click previous until you're back to the character select.  you'll probably see the character's face change.  now proceed next two screens again and (hopefully) you'll be back to normal.

It really sucks, cause I had one of each origin lined up. It would have saved me countless hours creating characters... but they are all screwed up in the game. Very dissapointed.

The nose on my character was originally messed up so I went back into the character creator, changed the setting on the nose slightly re-saved, changed it back, saved again. Then I went into the full game and imported the character again and it worked just fine.

wow alot of complaints people nobodies perfect even companies just play the game its not that hard to remake your chars if it bothers you to the point where you wont plat the game your missing out and the reason to not play it at all just says your lazy and not a true gamer and mind you the CC was to showcase what you can do with the various features thats more then what most companies do to please the fanbase so cut em some slack before you mob an linch somthing

I saw this issue too -

My solution was to constantly reload the character until finally it came through allright.

The CC wasnt advertised as a showcase, and the game itself has an option to import a CC character, so it's obiously something that should be fixed.

But there is a workaround for it, though a bit daunting at first.

heh, i've got 2 achievements popping up on my profile, and nothing else for a dwarf character that won't appear in the social.bioware community site.

as for editing the char to fix it in the social.bioware listings, i tried to 'refresh' my uploaded character in the CC, the character still did not appear i deleted the character profile from the CC and deleted the blank character page from the social.bioware site that the CC created, but i could not reupload a character with the same name again.

the CC shows the newer character settings (i.e. sans facial tattoo/hair), the game imported the older character,
the social.bioware site doesn't show anything at all for that character, except it shows achievements that i've got so far for a character that doesn't show up.

i think if the social.bioware site didn't break something when it first imported the character, there would be no problem.
