I got called a ****** for "only stealing kills with Throw". When trying to set up biotic explosions with Warp->Throw. :P

(I wasn't very successful at that, given that there was other two players constantly spamming Overload on everything, so my detonation attempts usually ended up with Throw killing off the nearly dead guy).

So true. Got a goddamn Human Engineer spamming Overload on a Brute yesterday, couldn't set of biotic explosions, didn't have a decent weapon yet, result? that same Brute almost wiped us out.

I do understand spamming Overload on things with barrier/shields and normal troops (Cannibals, Geth Trooper, etc) and the more elite ones like Marauders but.... Brutes? :pinched:

Edit - Grammar.

On gold it is in my experience a good idea to only have 3 players in the hacking zone unless it is a place that isn't too difficult to defend or the enemies spawn quite far away. Say on White and you get the hacking objective that is outside, next to the office building...with the light L shape cover. Having someone on the high ground so you can take out enemies storming one side of the hacking zone from 2 sides can really make it a whole lot easier.

I'm fine with vanguards doing their thing or a sniping infiltrator covering the zone from a better spot. Everybody else has to get into the zone! Faster hacks, less enemies to worry about.
Drop your turret and get back.

I was on my Engineer yesterday and found myself alone against a couple of Banshees. I took them on for a while before my shields evaporated, ran down to the hacking objective, and was pleasantly surprised to see my teammates hanging out peacefully. The Banshees were promptly eliminated and my least favorite objective was conquered.

Good tactics, I guess.

Ive not played much on silver and definitely not on gold, but a couple of times when playing on silver I notice that certain objective locations can turn into killzones. Its better if 1-2 people draw fire away from the objective depending on what you are facing. Some locations are easily defended though.

if you have a good "known" team you should be fine or else yes I'd try to do my best to complete the "task". you didn't do bad but personally when this happens I try to come to the hacking zone if possible then leave if necessary i.e to place a decoy etc.

This is when I love a good vanguard player. They can rock the hacking zone with nova, hold everything's attention indefinitely.

PTFO is onyl required for 2-3 players, depending on how long you want it to last. if your team is having an easy time killing, there's no reason for every one to PTFO. it's actually better that your better killers go and kill more things to get more experience.

So.

Im in game, silver for fun ( usualy play gold ), Im Quarian Engineer with mattock.

We got Hack task to preform vs geth troops in Giant base.

So I stood on balcony, droping my drone on field to lay covering fire and stop those geth hunters etc. from getting to hacking zone, yeh cool it's fine, noone get's trough, they focus on my turret while im taking them down with mattock and incinerate.

And then I hear :

" You **** **** quarian engineer get your ass to hacking zone".

So,

Was my job made properly, gettin and keeping them off hacking zone, or i should just run into ot and let them come on ur, overrun us and kill.

Only had one bad experience. Went into a Gold game and on the very first wave just as the first enemies were spawning I hear over voice chat : "You mother****ers get into this room now right I don't want to waste my equipment for ****ers like you."

Esc->Quit mission.

I got the satisfaction of hearing on voice chat as I left: "OMG WTF?!"

I hope he did waste his equipment.

It was just silver...
It makes sense - especially against geth to do hack with everyone together - they swarm you and they die and the wave is over much sooner.

You should turn off the sound, so the angry teenagers don't spoil your fun.

That's what I do.  On only my 2nd game, I almost didn't go back to multiplayer at all.  Some botched abortion was screaming the rest of us the entire (bronze!) mission.  You know that one word that offends every woman alive?  I got called that about 5 times in the span of a wave.  The best reason was once because I used a medi-gel to get back up and help dps on what I thought was likely going to be a wipe.  He wanted the revival award points.
So yeah, game's been a lot of fun with chat off.  I'm not sure I want to try gold without it, but I'll be happier with less creds in silver.

Infiltrators to the hacking zone. Soldiers flank and draw off the mobs. Everyone else shoot monsters in their monster butts.

Providing suppression was a good call. Had this one game, Silver and Reaper enemies, we got overrun by two banshees and two brutes too fast plus innumerable marauders and cannibals, everyone had to abandon the upload and lure the guys out. It was messy, Almost everyone of us got 10 revives 3 waves in, everytime someone revives the reviver dies, it was not good.

Ofc, i do gold all the time. Did gold yesterday with 2 other people a lvl 8 and  lvl 15 and me 20.
I score normally 120/150k on gold.
Maybe its you that does not do gold.

Obviously, I'm doing something wrong. le sigh. I only get around 60K from gold(it's enough for the pack at least, but I did not expect there to be that big a difference).

I find it works well to have two players hacking and the other two kiting. If your hacking area gets overrun things can get real nasty real fast. That guy doesnt know what he is talking about

People are jerks, you did what should be done. Leaving one or even two people out of the zone to maintain the perimeter against the enemies is a good tactic. I cannot tell you how many times this objective has come up and people just rush to the hack zone only to end up getting themselves killed by the onslaught of enemies.

Everything about tactics is a matter of OPINION... You will find people who thinks you're doing it right and people who thinks you're doing it wrong... In my case, I think that any tactic that leads to an "Objective Completed" is a good-enough tactic.

The problem are the people who insults. It leaves the tactic discussion behind and becomes just disrespectful without any sense (If someone insults me while asking me to do anything, I'll probably do just the opposite... You know, a way to ****** them a bit ^^ )

Eh max money possible on gold is about 75k. This has been confirmed by a dev. Anyone getting over that is cheating.

Just ignore those people.    I got the same thing vs the geth I was outside the hack zone on my infiltrator sniping/energy draining.   Somebody said get to the hack zone and I ignored them, about 10 seconds later all 3 of them went down and I revived them all and then moved out to cover again.    Didn't hear a word after that.

Leaving one out on overwatch is actually GOOD tactics. Just like the exit tactics (ie don't run to the exfiltration zone like lemmings). You did good.

Choosing to run off and solo during an objective wave is almost never "good tactics". This wasn't a gold game where an objective being overrun is a very real possibility.

You should go down to the hacking zone, you download quicker wich means more money and less chance of getting overrun, plus on silver its not hard and you will not get overrun. Im pissed when someone stays out of the hacking zone. What you were doing would have been usefull maybe on gold, but really its known that in a hackjob all should be in the zone.

Have you even ever done a gold game?

You realize the OP is talking about things that happened in a silver game.... right?

I don't hear much of it, to be honest. I did hear one player tell another one "You're bad. You're so bad, and you should feel bad."

I kinda chuckled at that one.
