So what's up with Kai Leng.

First off Cerberus have given him some kind of Dark Magic upgrade that lets him block anything. It was never explained in any detail in my playthrough of ME3 but is it meant to be some kind of artifical Biotic abaility (similar to what the Reapers gave Paul Grayson in ME: Retribution)? If so, why doesn't he use anything but that broken shield and why does he only use the shield in cut-scenes.

The Illusive Man has always wanted to 'split the atom' so to speak on Biotics in humans; going so far as to cause most of the 'accidental' infant exposures to Element Zero as well as the abduction and experimentions on Subject Zero and Gillian Grayson (ME: Ascension). Now he has the means to build an army of them and the most a Cerberus Phantom can do is block some incoming fire. A few dozen Biotic shock troopers laying down singularities and warps as a team would have been devestating (similar to the Biotic Artillery Strike Jack was talking about at Grissom Academy).

Did anyone else think the Dark Energy aspect of the Cerberus forces felt tacked on?

Also, on Ilos we had to leave Vigil behind because we had no way to save it before it's hardware gave out. However, Kai Leng is able to download the Thessian VI in a matter of seconds onto his Omni-tool and Dr. Eva Core managed to get the entierty of the Prothean archives in minutes.
