  • Put a Shortcut for ME3 on your desktop.
  • Right click it and go to properties.
  • In the target, after the location of MassEffect3.exe"  put the following switch  -nohomedir.  It should look something like this: "E:OriginGamesMass Effect 3BinariesWin32MassEffect3.exe" -nohomedir
  • Click on Advanced, and have it run as administrator.
  • Start the game from that shortcut.  See if it works. :)
I hope this helps others.

This didn't work for me :(

I am 99% that this problem is on EA's side- something to do with our accounts during the authentication process!

You may be right.  Though I know my solution worked for me.  Was hoping it might work for others.  I know that there are so many different reasons for it not work.  Hopefully by everyone posting their solutions everyone (including BIOWARE) can find ones that work for themselves.  :(

Heres to hoping things work out for you. It's rather disconcerting to not have much input on this or many of the other issues.

I contacted bioware once again, because I was told back then that I was alone with the problem. :D They have sent the problem forward to some experts who are trying to generate solution, because it looks like I wasn't alone after all.
So if BW provides any solutions, I'll promise to inform you guys here in this thread. And I'm still open to suggestions if anyone has an idea about this problem.
Meanwhile, I just bought a Playstation 3 yesterday 'cause got kind of fed up with this ****. ;)

And we're with you, man...

Just be careful with your personal data with PSN, though...you know what I mean.

It almost sounds like a registry key issue.
That was a big problem for some with the DLC for Mass Effect.

I have to agree here. I'm having this problem as well. however I installed the game on my laptop with the DLC and it runs fine. Weird that I install the same game on two machines and it runs great on the second but not the first.

You will probably have to move your saves to the new location. I'm not certain where it is saved currently.  Wish i could be more help. I'd have to run it and see where it's saving to in order to see where the new one is and I'm swampped with work so I can't just yet.

Bumping this for an update. Just had the same problem hit my PC. I quit the game and restarted it like 5 seconds later, and now the DLC does not authorize. ****ing ridiculous.

LOL, guys. I did the "update DLC" (also ME3 itself) thing from the Origin panel and resterted my PC. Seems to be working. Or maybe it was a temp issue and was "self-fixed". I've been looking for a solution for an hour untill i resterted. Dumb, I agree, but worked for some reason.

Also tried the repair install and for me it worked as well. Don't know if that was the fix or if the problem was just temporary but I'd give it a shot in any case.

Finally got hit with this problem, game was working fine last Friday and did the event with some friends, and checking today, bam DLC/Online pass not recognized despite it all being listed as purchased still in my Bio and origin account listings.

And EA wonders why people vote them the worst company in america.

Wow.... so the link the Ichigo-16 provided actually fixed this problem for me. If you haven't tried it yet then you should because I didn't think I would be able to solve this until I tried it.

I get that error message only if my pc is connected to the internet but Origin isn't, or if I just disconnected before I opened the game. Also don't get the 'ME3 server not available' screen unless my pc is connected.

I seriously wish that the thing could check the DLC once and get it over with and not freak out about it every time I go back to the main menu, because it's a serious pain and if your internet's not having a good day it can take a couple of minutes.

So has anyone else tried disconnecting your pc from the internet and trying to open the game? Origin should be closed while you DC or it will throw a tanty. Like I said, if there's no active internet connection my ME doesn't whine at all and just goes ahead, but if there is one and it can't connect it goes nuts.

Firewall settings? Anyone checked those? I let mine through automatically, so I can't check that, but if your ME can't reach the servers to authenticate that might make it mad.

What worked for me was going to C:\\Users\\*name*\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 3\\BIOGame\\Config and removing onlineprofile.profile. Apparently DLC authorization is stored locally and that file wasn't updating.

Hope that helps others as well!.
