Why do so many IRL males play a male Shepard?

Would you argue that those who do so are missing some major plot elements or great scenes? Anyone else feel the same way?

Blame misandry.
Besides, maleshep sounds hotter. Quite frankly.
And sheploo is based off a model...
also Tali romance.

I always choose female in games when I can. Who wants to stare at guy butt for 150 hours?
I love how this is the only argument people like you ever use.

No, this game ios not like F2 where a different gender has some different reactions.

Female and Male Shepard have different dialogue at various parts of the game.
You even have a wonderful bonding moment with Eve if you're a FemShep.

However when I try to play something radically different, like all out renegade, I choose femshep. The different gender disconnects me from the character, making "bad choices" easier to do. Its crazy, but it works.

It's actually because they would like to be superheroes themselves.lucidfox wrote...
Reading the story discussion on these forums has surprised me just how many guys refer to their Shepard as "he". In a game all about choices and exploring different possibilities, practically inviting you to try every option available, it just seems strange to me how many people apparently always play as the same sex, especially given all the romance plots, etc.

nothing wrong in that really.
Someone has explained that well, I ddon't remember who it was, but their point was this:
around 90% people who bother with creating characters in game does this for following reasons:
- males play male characters they would be and act like in real life
- females play females characters they would like to look like (to be pretty)
- males play female characters they would like to have as their sex partners.
I fall in the last category. Also, Jenny Hale has much better voice in my opinion.

There are so many things wrong with this statement... I'll just say if that's what you think of female players then I would suggest that you're way off base there..

There are people who would despise looking at a female backside. I'm not one of them.
