Don't know if this is where I post Q & A, but I've started a new game right? And I think I'vemissed the opportunity to encounter Zevran, I know the two cutscenes, where he's hired and then second one, where h ambushes us is on the left road, opposite to the Circle of Magi, and Lake Callenhad docks, but all I'm getting is that Dwarf Merchant. Have I somehow missed my chance? I've been to the place where you get the Control Rod for Shale, and I think that's when I usually meet him.

should encounter him travelling between two places, any two places within two travels of the cut scene when he is hired. did you leave the are after the ambush if so you lost him? since you have to wake up his unconcious body to recruit him after the battle is over.

No there hasn't been any woam taking be to an "attacked wagon" so far so I know that I haven't walked out on the ambush, and I haven't seen the cutscene yet either, where Zevran is hired.

I've done it before, but I've forgotten what I did to get that far

u will get the oppertunity to get him when u have finished the redcliffe castle quest,if u run down to redcliffe city and pick the quest on the board there,next time u travel in the world he will appear in a ambush. gl:)

As in, the part where you have to kill the boy or save him from the demon? Do I have to make that decision first?

I didn't think I had got to that part yet when I had Zevran, the first couple of times I played :\\

It doesn't have to be Redcliffe. Zevran appears after you've either been to Redcliffe or completed one of the "Treaty" subquests. You'll get a cutscene during which he's hired, and after that you'll get him as a random encounter when traveling on the main map.
