Is there some trick to this? I've been at this for 3 days now and its starting to get very annoying.

The trick would be get a PC with a mouse so you don't have aiming problems? Sorry but it's not difficult at all, at least it shouldn't.
Consoles since the PS2 sported USB ports. And some games on it (esp shooters) supported mouse/keyboard. I can't see why they don't do that anymore.

That all comes down to the developers. Only Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3 works with mouse and keyboard. Sadly, ME3 does not.

Hes harder to kill on insanity. One shot takes you down.

You know, to get all the achievements I had to beat the game on Insanity.  I have done that twice and your little guy has not killed me either time, on Insanity.

Now I don't know if you are completely FOS and trolling or not.  To think that this guy is remotely the hardest thing on Insanity is just crazy.  As far as the gimmic fights go laser designating the Reaper is probably harder than this, and it isn't really all that hard if you figure it out.

But in the case that you are serious and having problems here is my Marauder Shields Insanity Walkthrough Guide:

After Shepard is hit by the reaper weapon, he will be injured but equipped with the Carnifex.  Movement speed is reduced as there is a component of time dilation in the scene and Shepard is wounded.

Proceed forwards towards the beam.  You will see a dying Alliance Soldier.  At that point, 3 Husks will rush you from the right side of the beam.  Take aim, which is accomplished by putting the targeting reticle over the first husk, then press the "Fire" button.  Shooting for the chest is easiest here.  The Carnifex will stagger the husk before it is killed.  Switch to the next target and repeat as necessary.

Continue to walk towards the beam.  A Marauder will appear and take a shot at you.  You will need to again need to take aim at the target by placing the reticle over the intended target, and then press the Fire button to fire the Carnifex.  I recommend aiming for the head as the Marauder does not move to any significant degree.  When his shields drop the next shot staggers him.  Continue firing until his head explodes.

Now proceed into the beam and witness the biggest disappointment in Mass Effect history.

I'm not trolling. I was serious, I may have made a little joke with the title but thats it. I've plowed through insanity as a sentinel in 20 hours, I skipped almost all side quests, etc. The game was hard at the beginning until I maxed my passive and tech armor. After that it was all overload to singularity to throw. I used biotic explosions to make this a cake walk. Then I get to Marauder Shields, and he kills me in one shot. Shepard somehow forgets he has biotics and only uses a crappy pistol with crappy aim. I shoot at its head, then body and body. I get it down to 1 hp and then it kills me. This is the hardest thing I've ever played in any video game I've played in my 18 years as a gamer. I'm not used to playing games on the hardest difficulty, I only usually play on easy-medium. ME2 was the only game I've ever beaten on the hardest possible difficulty, this one will be the second if I can get pass this troll Marauder. No I am not trolling, I do find this legit hard.

Aim for head, I had the same problem trying to get past Eva on Mars, but if you hit the head... I think.

I didn't even know Eva could be a problem ... I was shooting her and even though I only got her health about halfway she didn't kill me. Or is that how it's meant to be? I forgot what happened in the Normal playthrough.

Sorry to hijack this, OP. Still in the middle of my Insanity playthrough so no advice yet. Getting nervous about this boss battle though.

Alright then, I will appologize for being a dick about it.

I understand that aiming isn't the easiest with a controller, but I would have thought if you got through the rest of the game you would be able to hit this guy.  Just work on your marksmanship and aim for headshots.  The headshots are the key against the Marauder.  You will get a lot of reticle bloom with the Carnifex, but due to the rate of fire it will still be accurate when you fire again if you keep the reticle centered.  You can also stop moving when he appears and that should make it a little easier to hit him.

As for the biotics, it is a concession to the story.  You could rationalize it that since Shep is seriously wounded he doesn't have the strength for biotics.  I didn't complain that I couldn't pick my Revenant back up and go to town on them as a Soldier :)

For me, insanity was not that difficult, i finished it with an infiltrator, the key was having upgraded weapons. I have my N7 Vialiant Sniper rifle X, extended barrel for sniper V, and Concentration mod V, it does not take more than 3 shots to kill anything except brute/ banshee/ geth prime /atlas or phantom. All my squadmates have lvl X weapons as well with piercing mods and extended barel.

Right now i am hoping the game a difficulty higher than insanity. honestly.

On both play throughs (second on insanity) I beat it without knowing how hard this was supposed to be. Not sure how everyone is having such hard times...maybe start using the particle rifle?

You can't use that during this part of the game. Your stuck with a inaccurate pistol.

Marauder Shields is a tricky enemy, I admit I also had a rough time with him, but my brother who is generally better at games than me helped me and I did it in my 6th attempt.

I'm probably going to have to drink some alcohol so I can do this. If I drink 6 beers, it feels like time slows down for me. I become the ultimate video game sniper, maybe I should try this for me3.

Yeah, the fight is a pain for a non-weapon focused class; with my vanguard the game automatically switched out my shotgun for my (completely unlevelled) carnifex?. It required me to headshot the marauder several times (without missing) to break its shields and stun it. Simply not missing and dealing body shots wasn't enough, and getting consistant headshots isn't easy when you need to compensate for everything swaying around like crazy. I found that it's better to take a little longer to make sure your shots hit rather than shooting faster and missing.

i'm thinking that having access to a decent pistol (levelled-wise) and having armour which boosts headshot/weapon damage may be useful - otherwise maybe n7 armour to boost health. Speccing for a decent health pool and weapon damage may also help.

My vanguard had faster power recharge speed armour equipped which wouldn't have helped.
My infiltrator will probably have a much easier time of it.

But yeah, that was probably my most reloaded fight. Had to do it at least ten to twenty times. :/

The weapon and armor is fixed. It doesn't matter what equipment and skills you have at that point.

This entire sequence should be a cutscene. It is so unneccessary. I'd rather fight the human reaper and 6 banshees. At least then I would have a chance.

One trick I figured out for this section is.

1)if you stop shooting, Shepard will lower the gun

2)You have infinite ammo

Basicly, just keep shooting(or aiming) so Shepard doesn't drop his arm down again. Makes things much easier.

It's a poorly designed sequence, I agree.  It took me three tries on xbox.  If alcohol heightens your shooting skills, try that.  Otherwise see if you can find a safe way to pump yourself full of adrenaline, which makes time seem to slow down, at least for me.

Consult your physician before attempting anything too bold, though.

Yeah there's really no workaround trick that I know of. Like another has said, it helped for me to strafe to the left after the 3 Husks so your recticle doesnt get covered by your body when aiming. after that it just gets down to good aim. I'm not sure if the sequence forces you to a certain weapon but, I already was using the Carnifex so....that helped.

But basically...what worked for me on Insasnity was:

Husks: Stop moving once they appear. Go for headshots. Backstep once they start rushing while lining headshots.

Marauder Shields: After Husks strafe to the left so you can target to the right without wonky camera angles. Aim high and in rhythm so all your shots hit. You should buy yourself more time with a stagger as his shields drop. (At this point of the Boss fight he takes his much easier 2nd form...Maruader Health).

It took me 6-8 tries the first time I did it. 2-3 on another attempt to choose a different ending.

Maybe on console, but it's like the slomo vs Eva, you can't loose that on PC. Didn't even know you could die at these two points until I saw threads about it.
