I just came to this portion on my insanity run, playing on 360. After failing four times I turned off the console. The rest of the game was relatively easy on Insanity, and now it's this difficult? Ugh.

At least reading about being able to use the Kinect to use powers gives me hope.

I feel for you. Just give the controller to someone else. Worked wonders for me.

In a way it feels like cheating, but I have the benefit of having the Kinect. After reading this thread I went back and used the voice controls and was able to use my biotics; it made this encounter the single easiest thing on my entire Insanity run.

I don't thinks its cheating. If you beaten everything else by yourself on insanity then I say mission acomplished. This part of the game is a giant middle finger to the player anyway. But if you got the kinect then go for it. Just yell Fus Ro Dah and throw that troll around like a ragdoll.

I somehow don't think it's intentional that you can still use the kinect to use the powers...

Don't walk and shoot.

Stop. Aim for head. It's easy then.

The most epic battle they could think of to finish the trilogy....Marauder Shields.

This idea is mostly just help you keep enough medigel kits for the Marauder.

With swarms, like husks, it's fantastic if you have cryo ammo (I think incendiary would be similar). Or have a squad member sharing it with you, regardless of the level. If you mix that with a fast firing weapon, like an SMG, you can spray the area. The -probability- of freezing/burning an enemy is set independently by each bullet, regardless of the damage (someone correct me on this).

If you equip the particle rifle, it trivialises the spray-and-pray method. Just sweep in an arc. The tempest is also good with this, especially with a SMG heatsink mod. This might require restarting the level to get the right weapon and squad combo...

Umm... You seem to be confused about what this thread is about. We aren't talking about basic Marauders. We are talking about the last enemy you fight in the game in a badly injured state where you only have a pistol with infinite ammo.

I did it today...took me 4 tries. Basically need to pace yourself but don't do it too slow. Line up head shot...shoot. Then just pace the body shots and he will drop back, then keep at it. Def the hardest part of insanity which is well...silly.

Honestly, I just kept walking, put 4 in his chest, and moved on. Played through on Insanity.

Not to creep on you or anything, but you have ME3 registered for PC.  It's already been discussed how Marauder Shields is much easier to take down on a PC, due to the aiming differences between a mouse and a console controller.

Game developers know that it is easier to get more precise aim with a mouse than with a console controller, and have accommodated for it in the past.  I believe enemies were harder on ME2 for the PC than they were on ME2 for the consoles, but don't quote me on that.  There was a good article about the balancing changes that needed to be made when Monday Night Combat made the jump from consoles to PC, for further evidence of this.

Yes, but also as noted, the 360 versions has an exploit that still leaves your powers available. So the PS3 is the odd man out on this.  More than anything here though, I'm pretty sure the issue is people are actually trying harder than they need to. There's so many posts in here about how you need headshots and such, and it's not true. As long as you hit him at all, he's put into massive hit stun. If you can't move and shoot, you can simply stand still and shoot him till he goes down anyway.

Oh, and I do want to say something - mouse and keyboard is actually not always going to be better than a controller. It should be, but the amount of peolpe who have no concept whatsoever of input lag, and buy the cheapest laggiest peripherals possible and never give it a second thought are quite high. Hell, truth be told, Maruader Shields may be significantly harder for most of the console folks than the PC folks because a nice high end HDTV with lots of pretty post proccessing is going to lag massively compared to most PC monitors that lack said post processing, before you even actually go out of your way to minimize input lag.

Very good points.  I don't have a Kinect, but if I did I would have exploited it.  "Shepard... charge."

In my first playtrough (on XBox) i died too much in this place, but in the last three runs, i passed without dead, it's only a question of staying cool. You don't even need to target the head, it's more important to hit anything and hit it fast.
If i play as Vanguard, i play agressively and when i die, i know, that i died, beacuse i'm playing to agressive. But when i die in a stupid minigame like the ones on galaxy map, of Marauder shields or the Reaper, any dead bores me.
I think, that even on Insanity, there is no need to enhance all enemeys for Insanity, especially in stupid mingames. Combat have to be hard, but such scenes, where they take half of control of you, haven't to be hard. And enemys, that i can one-hit in the game, haven't to be harder in a mingame. And anybody knows, that Insanity is to easy in combat. That Marauder shields is one of the hardest enemy in game, is a prove of bad balancing.

Yes another autosave would be nice, I'm totally frustated by coming so far on Insanaty and not being able to finish. Why do you build frustation into a piece of entertainment. Do you really have no empathy for you customers at all. Very disapointed.
Update: I've seen this portion so many times now, I want to hurt somebody. I'm also sure that I'm never going to finish my infinity run. So I say goodbye to the Bioware network. Bioware you suck for making a portion so frustratingly difficult. You are ****s, I'm sorry I bought this game. I can't believe you made me this angry over a videogame. I'm sad for everybody in this forum who know what that feels like, you should never feel that way regardless of what difficulty you play at.

Which should be common sense for anyone who has played a shooter before. This isn't a console problem, it's a player problem. It's just like the people who would whine about how hard a certain class quest in SW:TOR was. When given the advice "to use your ability to interrupt their casting" the people would come back and say "wow! That really worked! Thanks!". I'm thinking....people need to be told to do that?

I've played shooters on both consoles and pc. I played ME3 on xbox because that's where I started the series. I didn't even know you could die to marauder shields until I came to the forums.

I do agree with it being a player problem. Its my fault for not buying the rest of this series on the PC where aiming is much easier and there is less input lag. I've actually did what your saying, I still got killed multiple times. after shooting its head and removing its shields it moves back causing me to have to move the analogs to aim. Also it didn't help that the cursor moves by itself.

Shoot him decently quickly and don't miss any shots. Go for headshots if possible, but aim sways so it's a bit hard.

If you romance ashley and play as a paragon you can remove the 3 husks. I still haven't been able to remove the Marauder though. I suspecting is has something to do with Femshep & Garrus.
