Any consequences to turning up at the Citadel for the first time after you recruit some characters?
I can't remember if Aria et al refer to Shepard as a spectre if he goes to the citadel first.
Delaying the citadel visit.

No consequence, other than if you have Legion with you, he talks a bit with the salarian councilor.
As fas Aria, i think she refers to you as a dead spectre no matter if you meet with the council and they reinstate you. Anyway the reinstatement is more a formality than in practice, so nobody knows (and the council denies) that shepard is alive, much less reinstated. That´s why Aria doesn´t know either.
