I was listening to Kaidens voice acting in ME3 and it got me to thinking. {mostly about when the new season of dexter starts] His voice is so dull and lifeless. I began to think that Raphael Sbarge was a terrible voice actor. But then I got to thinking. What if Raphael understands Kaidens character. Virmire, Horizon, and Mars. Kaidens watched his life be chosen over a woman with three sisters. He's watched as he failed to save the Colony he was trying to protect. He's watched Shepard die only to be brought back to life by Cerberus a terrorist organization, he's watched his hometown fall to the reapers, and then he got pummeled near to death by Eva Core. Maybe he's just tired of life. Maybe the lifelessness in his voice is like Garrus comment on Palavens moon "How long till the fight is kicked out of you" Maybe Kaiden's just permanently broken and thats why he sounds the way he does. In that case Raphael's an amazing V.A. So weigh in on the issue.

Kaidan is almost as boring as Jacob.

I talked to him twice in ME 1, before I got sick of his whining. I let him die on Virmire and never cared enough about his character to import a save wherein he survives.

I always found Sbarge's voice to be a bit... how do I say it? Not exactly weird, but he pronounced things a bit weird sometimes. In any case, I liked Kaidan. He was my Shep's bro and I found his VA to be in character with Kaidan's story and personality. Maybe not "amazingly" in character, but I think it fit well enough.

His voice actor does the voice for the male character in Saints Row 3, had more fun with that  then the Kaiden character. Though I did find each character from the first be it Ashely or Kaiden are "I'm sleeping with one eye open" and not very fun to have in the crew.

Really? I think Sbarge does a great job. Actually, Kaidan is my favorite character in the series mostly because of his voice.

The way Shepard come to Kaidan and they look at each other always made me laugh in ME1.
That was so damn gay and Kaidan always complaining about each part of his life.
Glad i have to let him on Virmire but if i could i will let Ashley too.

I'm a Kaidan fan, but only after ME2 and a replay of ME. I love the VA! I think I especially love it after he recorded himself reading the email you get after Horizon. It was fantastic. Just fantastic. I think he does a great job, and I didn't find him as lifeless, or Kaidan as lifeless either. But! I guess it's all in your perspective.

Yup.

I love Raphael Sbarge's voice and his work as Kaidan especially in the last ME.

I find these things are entirely down to subjective opinion; some people say that Kaidan is whiny and I completely disagree. He in fact makes a point of not whining about stuff when he honestly could.
For me I reckon the "he's whiny!" comments are a throw back to Carth and Carth being a bit whiny (as much as Bastila is preachy).


Its the same with the Jen Hale vs Mark Meer as Shepard debates. Some people love Mark Meer and some people love Jen Hale.
I loved both of them lol.

I adore Kaidan so I might be a lil biased. I don't find him lifeless at all. He's intense and serious.

To me, the VA honestly sounds drunk. He stumbles over and slurs his words. It's almost comical.
That coupled with his whining nature... I just can't take him seriously. Ever.

"Terrible" or "in-character" is not a decision I can make though... so... yes?

I like kaidan a lot but I did feel frustrated at his lack of emotional support in his romance. He just talked about alcohol all the time.

I think the gist of his whing is along the lines of: "I have a headache", "School Sucked", "Dumb Turians", etc.

I like how he voiced Carth. Kaidan... eh, I'm pretty neutral about it.

The best line from him ingame was the "My god" when you opened the helmet to one of the soldiers. It sounded so genuine disturbed. xD
