I've been a fan of Raphael's for longer than I'd care to mention so I'm rather biased and think he's great.

Having said that, I still dumped Kaidan for Garrus.

I talked to him twice in ME 1, before I got sick of his whining.

What whining?

I think the gist of his whing is along the lines of: "I have a headache", "School Sucked", "Dumb Turians", etc.

Oh that's whining? I'd hate to know what you think actual whining sounds like.

Kaidan was always a solid character, but I thought he really shined in ME3. I don't understand how you can't like him in the third game. ^^

But let's be honest, Kaidan never had a chance to be the most awesome romance.
That's clearly Carth Onasi. I'm not kidding, I love Carth. <3

His voice actor does the voice for the male character in Saints Row 3, had more fun with that  then the Kaiden character. Though I did find each character from the first be it Ashely or Kaiden are "I'm sleeping with one eye open" and not very fun to have in the crew.

I'm pretty sure that Sbarge isn't in Saint's Row The Third. I don't remember hearing him, and he isn't credited with it on his imdb page.

To me, the VA honestly sounds drunk. He stumbles over and slurs his words. It's almost comical.
That coupled with his whining nature... I just can't take him seriously. Ever.

"Terrible" or "in-character" is not a decision I can make though... so... yes?

Sbarge didn't sound that slurry or stumbly in any prior work he's done. Kaidan talks a lot more about alcohol in this game than any other. Maybe it's deliberate characterization?

I think Raphael did a wonderful job, I love Kaidan as a character. People are entitled to their own opinions though of course, VA or any actors have their lover/haters.

I still dont get the "whiny" comment's, he says something about his headaches once. I think every character in ME2 complained or had some issue no? *gets confused*

Miranda: Oh why am I so perfect?
Garrus: Life as a vigilante wasnt as great and I lost my men and want revenge
Tali: Oh woe my race.
Jacob: Oh I have slight father issues
Thane: I ignored my family
Jack: I have a messed up childhood
Grunt: I was tank born, I'm pure but Krogan wont accept me
Samara: I gave birth to evil

Note I dont hate any of these characters. I love them all pretty much but they all have their own issues and moment's of being in a way whiny, Kaidan isnt alone in that fact.

I like his voice, it's husky with a slight hint of stoned surfer.

Huh. I thought his voice acting was absolutely amazing in ME3; some of the best I have ever heard. I've been a big fan of Raphael Sbarge since the first Mass Effect though.

Different opinions make the world go around, eh? ;)

Honestly Sbarge's best work was as Scorch in Republic Commando. No doubt about that.

Lots of Scorch dialogue in that.

Kaiden is a tortured introvert (Literally and figuratively) and his voice adequately demonstrates this. I am never surprised to hear that people found him boring, but then again I'm never surprised that "America's next top model" is consistently renewed for another season. For the same reason, I might add.

Ashley was an extrovert and frankly I found her ****ing annoying as all her opinions, which were loud and simple, were stupid. Xenophobia, Nationalism, Self-righteous (and more)...I couldn't sentence her to death quick enough.

She died the way she lived - In the loudest most dramatic way possible.

But yeah, Kaiden was a bit monotone, his voice was more "Real" (People simply aren't melodramatic, and neither is he), so it was all the more poignant when some unhinged emotion or pain slipped through the cracks in his self-imposed prison.

This man could read a shopping list and I would swoon. His voice is very sensual and sexy...*sighs*

But like it's said above, we all can have our own opinions about it :police:

Personally Ashley and Kaiden are the most boring squad mates in whole trilogy.

Yeah, this is one of the major problems I always had with ME1. It's supposed to be a really tough dramatic moment.....but even on my first playthrough it was probably my easiest choice in the series.  I was like: "you mean I never have to hear that guy talk again!?!"  And I'm not even a big fan of Ash.

i've said it somewhere else before but: His Voice in ME1 isn't loud enough. It's like everyone else is speaking at Volume 1.0 while he is at 0.5
Annoyed me everytime

oh, and VA for Male Protagonist in Saints Row 3:
Troy Baker (Male Voice 1 - Batman: Arkham City/Two-Face)
Kenn Michaels (Male Voice 2 - No known work)
Robin Atkin Downes (Male Voice 3 - MGS: Peace Walker/Kazuhira Miller)
http://www.saintsrow...pg=last&lang=de

@ ImmovableMover
might explain my annoyance with him. Good Point.

Well... he's Carth Onasi, the guy can VA. Still, for the short time I had Kaidan in my ship he did sound tired all the time. He had his reasons, right? It goes with the character.

And here's one question: Is there any specific reason why people keep misspelling his name?
