Well I'm sure I'm going to sound biased.

I didn't like his role as Carth, but I love his role as Kaidan. :)

BTW Marque, thx again for informing us back in June about what Raphael said on Kaidan's s/s romance. I always believed you 100% :)

Male shep, Garrus, Wrex, Joker, Mordin, Sten, Fenris, Alistar, Varric, Sebastian are all generally liked? All in all, it's completely subjective.

I think Sbarge does a good job overall. He voiced Carth well also, I just didn't like the character.

I just prefered Ashley. I talked to all the squadmates in ME1, but Kaiden's dialogue just never interested me, especially since at the start of the game he just flat out refuses to talk to you.

To each his/her own.

I think there were actually some miss-spellings of his name in ME1 and/or game documents, so perhaps that is the source of the widespread spelling error.

Edit: Just realised I spelled it wrong myself. Doi.

His VA in ME3's love scene at the end is pretty fantastic. I watched a clip. I was sort of floored.

mShep is a player character. I know, shocking info. Garrus, Wrex, Mordin, Varric, Sten all ain't attractive human male leads. Joker ain't a lead, he's a comic relief for most of the trilogy. Alistair and Sebastian are the most liked out of all attractive male leads in BW games, but they STILL get quite a bit of crap from guys. So no, let's not pretend.

I think both character and VA are great, but then I loved Alistair too. I'm noticing a trend that Kaiden fans are often Alistair fans and sometimes Anders fans as well. I guess some of us just find whining attractive? :P

Haha, I never thought of that.

Yes, I do like characters that whine, especially when they whine with a good dose of self-deprecating humor on top of it like Alistair.

Maybe it makes me feel better about my own problems to hear them whine constantly.

I don't blame the voice actor, he doesn't write the lines. Kaidan is just weak and pathetic, I always wish I had left him on Virmire and then I remember Ash and he doesn't seem so bad for a minute.

Mr. Kaidan "No Personality" Alenko himself? Nah, he's just awful.

I actually think Kaidan has the best romance dialogue in the game. That conversation at the cafe on the Citadel was really amazing... just two people talking casually, honestly, and believably.

First of all, Garrus, Wrex, and Mordin are aliens. Therefore, men do not feel threatened by something they could never actually be, a different species. I'd love to see what would happen if Garrus were human because I know that people would be calling him whiny if he weren't an exotic turian.

Sten has no emotions so yeah, again, not really threatening. Joker is just pure comic relief, we really don't go to in depth on his character.

And I have seen tons of guys hate Alistair and Fenris, call them whiners and tell them to suck it up and be men. Same with Sebastian although more that he is "too preachy"

Male Shep is your character, to mold how you want so I'd think you would like him.

The only exception is Varric who also happens to be a dwarf, therefore also a little exotic. Varric is pretty much pure humor though, and never really complains much about anything.

I talked to him twice in ME 1, before I got sick of his whining.

What whining?

I think the gist of his whing is along the lines of: "I have a headache", "School Sucked", "Dumb Turians", etc.

Have you guys actually heard anyone whine?

I like Kaidan's voice actor. i think he did a great job.

:wizard: dingdingding! :wizard:  We have a winner!

Even in early sections of the game, like on Mars, Raphael Sbarge's voice acting is superb.  If you're romancing Kaidan, it's even better.  The complaints about his voice, hair, personality, etc., are from people who would write him off no matter how great his performance is.

Again, completely subjective. Just because you don't think Garrus, Wrex, Mordin, Varric, Sten aren't attractive, doesn't mean other people don't. Especially Garrus, Wrex, and Sten. Go look up rule 34, it's fine, I can wait. Joker is defintely a lead character, seeing how he's essential to the plot, the only other character we've ever played as other than Shepard, and has more dialogue that the majority of characters, especially seeing how he is one of the few characters in all three games. Sandal from DA is an example of a character mainly for comic relief. Joker may be used to lighten the mood, but he's got plenty of problems of his own. Ya know, seeing how he pretty much has glass bones. That's pretty depressing, so comedy is a good defense. Mshep is the playable character, which means he's the one you're going to be looking at and listening to the most. Shocking, I know, right?

This is the dumbest thing I've read in a very long time.  It reminds me when I told some people I didn't like Adele's music, and they said "Why, because she's fat?"

Definitely not the VA as a great deal of Carth's dialogue was excellent.

I'll have to go back and watch it. I just know when he says, "It's gonna be... It's gonna be what it is," I was like, Damn son. Who you voguing with your voice for? Then his whole little devious laugh about being "pretty spectacular."

Winner at life.

Except that everything is not subjective, believe it or not.  Even if you don't like Adele's music, saying her voice sucks would be disingenuous.  Objectively, compared to most singing voices, of most people, her voice is better.  You may prefer another genre of music, but that does not change the fact that her voice is appealing to many people.

Similarly, Kaidan obviously does not appeal to many people. and they might have legitimate issues with him or Ashley after Horizon, but that does not negate the fact that Raphael Sbarge is a good voice actor, enjoyed by many fans.

Opinions do not equal facts, is all I'm saying.

Haters gona hate anyways...

He's an amazing VA, I love Kaidan because of his voice...(among other things...)
I think he receives most of the hate from male players...some people just can't tolerate handsome male characters in a game with a great voice.
