lol it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I can see where you're coming from. But I'm just biased, I think Sbarge delivers a performance that is very in-tune with Kaidan's character in the ways you described and more. I wouldn't call it "lifeless" or "permanently broken" but then again, a war with the Reapers can do crazy things to people's minds.

I personally really like both Kaiden's VA and his personality. In fact, he is my favorite character in the series aside from my "canon" Shepard herself.

That said, I can see why others would not like Kaiden or his VA. My "canon" femshep is a renegade (in addition to being morally loose) and romanced him in both ME1 and ME3. The simple dynamic of him being the "average" nice guy falling for the "bad" girl added a lot to his character and made him far more endearing than he otherwise would have been.

I don't know, I've always liked Sbarge's work. I think the VA fits Kaidan's character perfectly.

Kaidan voices the role perfectly. Tired soldier, starting to get a little old, but still has his s*** together. Sbarge is a classy guy, a critically praised actor and voice actor who has single handedly amassed more fangirls on his voice alone than any other character in video game history. Mad bro-respect.

I usually kill him off, but I am specifically going through the games again for him to survive just so he can tell me that he doesn't trust me.

I never thought he was a whiner. You have to keep pushing him to talk about stuff and he apologizes for talking about it. He didn't whine when you were on a mission. His response to you initially in the second and third games is better than Ashley's who just gives you the stink eye until you have the showdown with Udina. I really liked him and I thought his look and voice had matured well. It's a shame so many people never get to see it.

I think Raphael did a wonderful job, I love Kaidan as a character. People are entitled to their own opinions though of course, VA or any actors have their lover/haters.

I still dont get the "whiny" comment's, he says something about his headaches once. I think every character in ME2 complained or had some issue no? *gets confused*

Miranda: Oh why am I so perfect?
Garrus: Life as a vigilante wasnt as great and I lost my men and want revenge
Tali: Oh woe my race.
Jacob: Oh I have slight father issues
Thane: I ignored my family
Jack: I have a messed up childhood
Grunt: I was tank born, I'm pure but Krogan wont accept me
Samara: I gave birth to evil

Note I dont hate any of these characters. I love them all pretty much but they all have their own issues and moment's of being in a way whiny, Kaidan isnt alone in that fact.

This. For certian characters, people find reasons to call them whiny while ignoring that just about every other character has something to whine about.  And it's not a bad thing, it's a human (or alien) thing. 

As for his voice, I mean it's not my favorite voice acting ever, but I think it works well. Kaidan has seen a lot, and his voice being kinda calm and low expresses that well. I like how it'sunique sounding, at least. He's a chill dude. It fits him.

Yup, can't get the whole "whiner" argument that gets spewed out so many times. Mostly made by males, threatend maybe? Want a whiner? Try Ash, no wait she's got bewbs, nevermind.
