Is there any reason that the fire one seems to simply be twice as good as the ice one? The spells seem identical other than the fact that the fire buff's damage is twice that of ice which adds so little it's barely worth using. Any hidden differences or reasons to use ice?

The ice one slows enemy attack speed supposedly

Some enemies are immune to fire but vulnerable to ice, and vice versa.

They're exactly the same, but remember the effects are determined by Spellpower.
Its possible whoever was casting your Flame Weapons buff had a higher Spellpower than the Mage casting Ice Weapons.

Untrue. I have both spells on the same mage and Flaming gives twice the damage boost Frost does, so I really hope Frost does indeed have a slow effect.

The frost tree is better anyhow bc of the other talents in it.

Flame weapons may thaw enemies frozen by Cone of Cold and the likes. Can anyone confirm this?

I wonder if perhaps a +% Fire Damage enhancment item (on the casting mage) would effect the damage of this spell?

There are times like these when I wish Bioware included more detailed tooltips.

Ice slows enemies I believe. I know for a fact that electricity has a draining effect on enemies' stamina and mana as well as the damage. So it would stand to reason that ice may have a similar effect (probably slowing). I also believe that any +% to elements directly effects all elemental damage regardless of source. You can put the + nature dmg gloves on a rogue and produce some mean poison procs I believe. Try it. I did and I'm pretty sure it has an effect. My point is: why not wear +fire gear and have it boost the flame weapon dmg.
There is another example of this on Shale. his weapons are +element and it DOES effect his weapon dmg.. It has to. So it would also stand to reason that this would produce the same effect on other + elemental gear. Best thing to do is watch the damage and test.
I agree with TSAdmiral, I wish they would too. But, there is also that feeling you get when you figure out the game was a little more than you thought it was. I think maybe they omitted some detail to let us experiment for ourselves. I had to see the electricity thing on a help topic on the loading screen lol. I was like "OMG that is pretty intuitive.. I wonder if the other elements have a similar attribute." I'm not as smart as some of you guys out there. I don't think I would have figured out much of this game on my own. Perhaps this is what these games are really about... the community.
