It doesn't change the fact that the Gamestops in my town are shipping copies of ME3 to storage because they have to many. I asked the clerk a week ago if he thought the price would go down, and he said he was shocked it hadn't already. At that particular store (near a college) they were getting more traded in or sold to them than they were selling. And the game isn't even a month old.

Wait until uproar about terrible ending to game and price drop before purchasing it.

That is not hard to believe.Captain Arty wrote...
It's probably just a sale. But it's probably on sale because it isn't selling as well as they expected and now they're trying to promote it before putting it back up to $60.

It's not good for the long term life of the game though because if they can't sell, they have little reason to re-order units.

They are just trying to shift excess stock at which point the price will go up. Amazon do it all the time, DA2 dropped to £20 at one point then went back to £25. What is nice is the knock on effect this has when no one wants to be left with unsold stock and you get mini price wars.

It jacks up sales, but reduces/eliminates profit.

Just checked £29.99 at Amazon UK now, 25% reduction in a little over 2 weeks, worse than DA2.
Isn't March 31 the fiscal year-end for EA?

True but it beats having unsold stock taking up warehouse space which also eats into profits.

So, it is underperforming if they are cutting prices so soon. It's only been three weeks! Also, we need to take unit sales with a grain of salt if some units are sold around cost. Maybe they are trying to jack up sales for their fiscal year end.

It's still 59.99 pretty much everywhere else.
Probably not for long. These things tend to have a domino effect because no one wants to be left holding the hot potato.

Well IF the pattern holds and this is all hypothetical, then they won't sell much more than they initially shipped DA2 shipped 2 million and VG has them at selling 1.8 which seems about right if you take into account the units gathering dust. It probably means that while ME3 outsold ME1/2 initially ME2 will have the stronger long term sales like DA did against DA2.

I find it disheartening that you guys want to celebrate that this uproar has caused ME3 to suffer in sales. I just don't get it. This may the most cynical forum I've ever been to.
We're simply pointing out the facts. It's up to EA/BioWare to do something about it.
I've always advocated that EA/BioWare does the best thing for their bottom line.

Because that would by cynical. EA screwed us (day 1 on disc DLC and breaking promises, lying) they deserve this.

Yes that is buisness, and capitalism. You have a say in it too, which is no buying the product, stop giving them more hits to their site and spurning media attention on this.
