Doesn't this post qualify as spam, given that you are advertising 'best buy'.
Your post or this thread?
I would hardly call this thread an advertisment. One look inside and you'll see the discounts are at a number of retailers.

ME3 xbox $29.83
ME3 PS3 $29.83
Skyrim xbox $59,83
Skyrim PS3 $59.83
I'd say sales of ME3 have been weak - in Canada at least.

EA's fiscal quarter ends today. It will be interesting to see if these deep discounts continue into the next quarter. EA could be trying to put lipstick on the sales numbers.

I have firsthand vendor experience putting product into Walmart (Canada).
No way Walmart is eating that 50%, EA is eating it. So uless EA is after a units shipped figure as opposed to a billing figure it couldn't be helping them.
Walmart plays serious hardball when you are taking up floorspace with something that isn't moving . When Walmart first entered the market in the industry I used to work, their billing and service demands were unheard of, not to mention the penalties if any one of their locations ran out of stock on a hot seller. They move serious amounts of inventory though.

Agreed. I love it when people have actual knowledge of the situation. Any more info on which party eats what percentage of the discount? Does EA eat the entire discount?
EA might want the sales number up irrespective of profit margin. Sale numbers can be presented to mean different things. They are vague. They are the big print. Only when you look at the small print do you see the truth.

this is a lot smaller than you think. society know nothing about this, trust me. only online gamers do which has been proven to be a small number by many devs. Hardcore fanbase is always the smallest which is why Microsoft stop catering to them, why PC gaming went to console, etc

I'm not familiar with any of the terms between Walmart and any of the gaming vendors so I don't know.
In my industry they would have asked for a credit (thereby lowering their cost price) so they could move the inventory discounted with the original margin. It's been a long time since those days though.

I don't know about this. People I know who don't play games, but know that I do have asked me have I played ME3, and if the ending was really that bad or was it an overraction. Hell my mother even asked me about it at my birthday party last weekend.

Thanks. The big dogs like Amazon and Walmart are definitely not eating the discounts. I just wish I had knew the actual terms.

Walmart Canada as of this post. Prices are in store (not just online)

ME3 PS3 $29.83
Skyrim xbox $59,83

No it's not. I was just in one a couple days ago.
Every single retail store that drops the price, is having a sale. Only online retailers are dropping the price. You guys are blatantly wrong (Or lying if you're stating it) if you think stores are halving the price not even a month in. A game would have to be moving no copies to drop that bad, and it's still selling copies.

I can't say whether every store is up on their price maintenace but this isn't an online discount, it's an advertised store price. When I put my postal code into the availability search engine all the stores near me come up showing stock and that price. Don't know what else to tell you.

You act like it's all of Wal Mart in Canada when it's very likely it's a few stores doing a in store sale. No Wal Mart in my region has dropped it below $60 (Or any store for that matter). The game isn't selling bad enough to let it drop a couple dollars let alone $30.
Stores simply do not slash the price in half unless the game hasn't moved a single copy, and that's obviously not the case.
Games go on sale all the time near release, but that doesn't mean it stays that low. A sale is a sale.

I'm not acting, I'm quoting the Walmart Canada website which is advertising the product at the price point I quoted. Every store near me is showing that price (I'm in Toronto). I'd demand that price at any location in Canada if it was marked differently on the floor.

No mention of a sale on the webpage.
