I prefered Meer to Hale for one particular reason:

Jennifer Hale is perfect, she is the Goddess incarnate, anything she says or does is fine with me.
Not sure if joke or just creepy.

To get a real nice contrast, watch Thane's death scene as done by each of them (links below). With Hale, the scene is very powerful and emotional. Meer's delivery is completely flat, and completely kills the scene imo. The difference is huge and it all comes down to acting ability.
Not that I think Meer is bad. He's pretty good at some things - giving orders, yelling, some of the banter with companions. I just don't think he has Jennifer Hale's acting range.

She's trying way too hard to sound 'badass', and adding a sort of raspyness to the end of literally almost every line.
Yeah, she does that since ME2.
I like her and i let her finish, but Meer is still best Shepard out there.
Same thoughts here, Meer might not be perfect but he does pretty good without sounding irritating.

Meer's delivery was perfect. Hilarious even. Easily the best part of the game for me.SiberETP wrote...

Meer.
Hale.
Yeah, it isn't even close who's better. Sorry Femshep fans...
In fact, Hale's delivery of the best line in the game is absolutely horrible.
Yeah, actually both those deliveries suck, probably because that's a goofy line. It was fine in 1, buti ts inclusion here just felt like forced fanservice.
Forced fanservice? After the ending(s)? Think you might be giving BioWare too much credit...

ME2, i dont care about.
ME3 meer was awesome. idk if it was just the fact that its been his voice from the start but the whole thing really immersed me alot. i dont remember thinking even once about him being monotone or saying comic book ME2-style phrases. it was really perfect for me.
also wanted to say i dont prefer hales voice at all. shes the female version of marcus fenix. i played one female ME1 playthough, solely becasue so many people love hale. i just dont think its worth it.

In all seriousness, I like them both. But like I said above, I like Hale just a little more.

I also remember that Mark Meer voiced a lot of the Volus as well. Amazing talent right there.
And the vorcha too.
That's what surprises me. He's good at those roles and sounds like he's reading the script when playing Shepard. He could be reading Dr. Seuss sometimes. "See Tad run." Meer has always seemed reluctant in his role as Shepard, whereas Hale may go over the edge occasionally, but I still prefer her by far.
I haven't gotten far yet on my 3rd playthrough as MaleShep (just finished Palaven), both because of the fantastic endings I know are coming, plus it's harder to get into MaleShep.
They both sounded a bit silly with the jellyfish line; I wish I was able to follow up Kasumi's thing in game but I never found where to go in spite of meeting her by the embassies.
