He is not as bad as I thought he'd be. The problem is, there are much more interesting characters they could have used as squadmates, like Jack, Miranda, Wrex, Legion, Mordin... They could have made Vega's spot a switchable one, so everyone could take his/her LI to the normandy.

Vega is not that bad, but why bother having him, when we already have a lot of characters from ME2? This is lost potential...

I agree 100% on the switcable idea.

But on topic, I like Vega.  I used him alot on missions.

I think a lot of people were going in with the perception that he would be an awful character because of how he looked. Looks like a lot of people were wrong in that assumption.

I was very surprised by Vega.

I was expecting him to be really bad and annoying. He wasn't anything like that. He was well written and well voiced.

Imo he is to Shep what Shep was to Anderson.

To be honest, when I saw the character at first glance I thought he
would be lame but when I started playing with him, his delivery began to
grow on me.  He is much more than just a meathead as I've read on these
forums.  His delivery of his little quirps, and his yes's and no's were
quite entertaining.   I thought he was a good addition to the game, he
was JUST a grunt, not someone with a rough past and/or a leader/high
ranking member of a prior organization/gang (atleast from what I
gathered from the game) or a briliiant scientist with philosophical
knowledge so his dialogue was natural to me.

I really liked him but I think his dialogue was skimped a little bit :( could have gone a bit more indepth in to his character and given my FemShep a chance to romance him! Although calling him on his bluff was funny

He's just seem like a big tool to me. I don't dislike the character per se .

^^^Thank you. With his nose up Commander Shepard's ass regardless if you roughed him up during his "dance" sequence. He's just a piece of ****. Image IPB

His jokes and flirt-attempts were funny, but the character as a whole kinda fell flat. The Problem to me was, that i knew all the other Squadmates from ME1 and 2. I helped Garrus and Tali in the first game, recruited and gained their loyalty in the second....

All you get from Vega is the sparring scene and later a talk about him becoming an N7. For... whatever reason. There was a lot of potential, but no Personal Mission where you really see him reach his limit. I think that was missing to really like him.

To clarify my "Mass Effecsey Shore" comment: Vega gambles a lot, partys a lot, and lets be honest, he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. That said, I don't hate the guy. He amuses me.

I never took him on a mission where it wasn't required but always chatted to him between missions. He was okay for a laugh.

I do not hate Vega but I would not say he is one of my favourites considering his dialogue did seem to vanish at times which was expected considering he is not an LI and is a new character (makes it harder to think more positively about him)

certain moments with him were great especially the point you train fight with him and him asking you about the N7 program with him being unsure if he should take the responsibility on or not because of what happened before.

I would say he has good character development but he I think I will have to do play through's with him in my squad more to get a feel for what his character is like more.

Why all the jacob hate? My shep was male, so i understood him finding a girl and settling down.

As a female playing femShep Jacob is just annoying as hell. That he cheats on the Sheps that romance him, is kind of the nail in the coffin

I'd have rather had a Krogan that a human who thinks he is. His naivety can be a little annoying for a soldier who's supposed to be a tough guy. I like to run and gun, though, so at least he could keep up. Small complaint, I can live with it.

Jimmy Vega's not good. He's not bad. He's inert.

He's a marine that took it unto himself to tag along with Shepard and crew. He knows Shepard -somehow-, though we're never told why and left to assume. He likes to give inappropriate nicknames to his superiors, he's never in uniform, the last time he had a command he got everyone killed... and he's somehow being scouted by N7 for recruitment. Because this is totally the profile of an elite soldier..

He's a blank space that's taking up a spot that could be occupied by a more interesting character.

Was surprised to find him non-romanceable.

Means that if my Femshep wants to get with a human (and not have them cheat on her and leave between ME2 and ME3) then she has to go for the ultra-bore that is Kaiden.

I think Vegas main falling is that he is a new guy to characters and audience. To characters, he is the newbie who needs to be filled in on everything.

To audience, he is the least developed character.

Blame BioWare for making his introduction a comic instead of explaining it in-game. Same thing they did with Liara and the Shadow Broker thing, until LotSB came out.

I found him kind of meh, but after Kaidan and Ash the bar for human crew members is extra low to begin with.

In terms of the lore, being a Spectre is a whole different ballgame than being in N7.

An interesting thing about Vega - if you go to the Engineering deck and look through the window onto the shuttle bay you can see Cortez and the dog. If you go to the far right of the window then you should be able to see Vega's right shoulder where he stands by his bench, but he isn't there.

For a while I wondered if this meant anything, particularly as Vega complains of hearing a hum that only he can hear, i.e. perhaps he is a figment of Shepards imagination. But this didn't really fit as he interacts with the rest of the crew so eventually I just put it down to lazy programming.

I did miss having a Krogan, but then again, I liked James. Of course, I'm a woman and I think the fact that James isn't romanceable is a huge waste of manly man (and I love me some manly men), but hey, whatever.

I brake for Tyrannosaurus Flex.

Yeah I was shocked I'm a straight dude but when I saw Vega I was like "yeah theres the beefcake for the ladies/men right there". And he's not romancible! What was the point! I mean, we get Liara and Tali, who are two attractive humanoid cliches, why can't the ladies get gigantor?

I like Vega a lot. He is well written and well voiced. I would use old friends from ME2 much more, but I will not exclude him.

Jacob is another story. I just cant bring myslelf to like him till now. Even in ME3 I felt sorry for the girl...
