You have a few options here.

1. Ritual - PC and Alistair both live

2. Leave Alistair at the gates - PC Dies

3. Take Alistair - Alistair dies

4. Spare Loghain and make him a Warden - Loghain dies but Alistair leaves your group but he does live. I'm not sure if you'll get a choice in Loghain or yourself dying here yet. #3, I couldn't talk Alistair out of it at all, hence how I came to #2.

Honestly, when I decided no deal on the ritual, I liked the ending to #2 best. I think it has to do with the fact that I can't stand Anora and watching her be Queen by default because Alistair offed himself just pissed me off.

Short answer: Someone is gonna die unless you do the ritual. Sorry.

Let's talk again about it when you come back from Irak, cheat on girlfriend just before you warn her about what you're going to do and don't forget to mention it's for your survival, let's see if she gonna be home when you come back ^_^

What?

Not only does that statement barely qualify for coherent status, but it's an entirely different situation when it doesn't even qualify as cheating when the PC told Alistair to do it. If my girlfriend told me to have sex with another woman, and then was gone when I came back for that sole reason, then I'd probably be glad she was gone. I'd go and find somebody not as tainted in the head.

Why does Morrigan say no to Riordan?

(He can't be that much older then Loghain, and he hasn't spent a lot of the game trying to kill your scrappy band of adventurers.)

He has carried the taint longer.

He's had the taint too long, which I guess means the kid either won't come out like she wants it or he's completely shooting blanks at that point.

Loghain hasn't had it that long, which is why he works.

Spoiler ahead!

In both playthroughs I have done so far Riordan dies when he leaps onto the back of the Archdemon as it flys by the tower, it does appear that he injures the dragon severly but he does die in the process. All of that takes place in one of the best cut scenes in the game however I had no chance what so ever to change when he strikes at the dragon, Riordan has his own agenda it seems.

It's not selfish to refuse to let Alistair father the child (playing a female PC, here). It's just plain wrong to let someone like Morrigan raise a child like that. Especially when you know good and well that Morrigan knows the body-switching spell from Flemeth. No way in hell was my PC going to give Morrigan a child with that kind of power.

The right, good, noble, honorable thing to do was to suck it up. The sacrifice had to be made. I just thought in the end it'd be my character that died and it was Alistair.

At which point my character flipped Ferelden the bird and went off with Sten when he went home. No romance there, but this is a romantic tragedy. She will, in the best tradition of such things, spend the rest of her life mourning her lost love and never return to Ferelden. Even if there's a sequel, I'll be starting a new character, or using one from one of my replays. My current little Noble Human rogue is going to have quite the fling with Zev when he shows up. *eyebrow waggle*

If you have enough Persuasion, you can convince Anora to spare Alistair's life.

do you still get follow dialogue or data with this option?

Out of curiousity, how do you Harden Alistair? I take it its just after his meeting with his sister, but i'm new to these forums and I've probably missed the thread where this was discussed before.

You tell him that people will always be out for themselves and he has to get used to that fact. He stops whining as much after that. Doesn't entirely stop, but doesn't do it as much either.

As Oni said, people need to stop being so selfish about something so utterly insignificant, it's one night so that you both can live, especially seeing as your character is the one to bring it up to him in the first place.

Um, you are comparing apples to oranges there. If he cheats in Iraq, it has nothing to do with life or death.

In the game, it is LIFE OR DEATH!!!

So basically you are saying that if your only options was to have your man sex up a witch for one night or death, you'll choose death. Okay then, your husband dies. Enjoy.

It is a dialogue choice, that happens immediately after Anora announces her intentions to order the execution of Alistair, if I remember correctly, It

<something ghey that says no don't do it>
<something ghey that says 'meh'>
(Persuade) Let Alistair go, Anora.  You owe me this boon.
(Persuade) Actually I thought you two should marry
(i think this one is here)
Well it's about time

After you choose the appropriate option, AListair leaves the party (and he took my armor D: ).

The epilogue (of mine anyway) reflects this choice, saying something to the effect of "5 years later a drunk claiming to be the son of a King and a Grey Warden something something Burt Ward" (as far as epilogues go).  And as of this choice, an uprising in the name of AListair also happens (as Anora predicted would happen if he lived)
