It's funny how expansion packs were not accused of trying to make more money. DLC is basically broken down expansions, they are cheaper and easier to obtain. In the end you get as much content as you do with an expansion for roughly the same price. But it doesn't make sense to actually make sense on internet these days ;)

Say what?

All the contents of ME cost 7-10$ and they only last like 1-1,5 hours. So you get some 5 hours for $30. That is an awful deal compared to real expansion packs.

Yes.

On a related topic, didn't they say they'd release DLC next year? As in 2013?

thats most likely a typo

Except the difference is expansion packs aren't meant to give you an ending to the previous story, but rather expand on that ending and the events in it.  In this case, any DLC would actually be giving you an ending.

Take NWN.  At the end of the original campaign, the story is finished.  We got an ending.  The expansion packs of HotU and SoA expanded on that, but didn't need to provide closure to what we got.  You could completely ignore the two expansion packs and still have a conclusion to your original campaign.

The same can't be said about ME3.  You basically will need to download the DLC endings, or otherwise you're left with a "Wtf?  I don't even ..." reaction.

Depending on how they play it, it could be clever marketing despite bringing down the wrath of the fans. If the IT is true, then it will be interesting to see how they might reveal it. How many were indoctrinated vs how many chose correctly ect. I guess we'll see.

As for the game not shipping complete, most games end up with DLC and I'm fine with that so long as I don't feel like pieces of the game were carved out to sell for extra (From Ashes DLC is a good example of that). But over all ME3 felt like a whole game for the most part. The mission journal felt like it took a step backwards by not updating and not including the Prothean on the already short squad list could have been better.

But the game felt at least like I got a full game and if the ending is a lead into the next DLC that could be interesting. Certainly better than where it left us.

Surprised?

Why do you think they suddenly changed the planned plot to make this ending that came out of nowhere.

It doesn't. It's convinient, but most likely not true. Why? Because "it was all a dream" is one of the most hated stunts in fiction. As simple as that. Don't believe Bioware would use it.

Well, it always was a choice between incompetence and avarice. Still holding out hope that Bioware will pull off both.

Or they're just trying to bullsh*t their way out of a fiasco, either way their marketing director needs fired stat.

your out of your mind if your going to believe ANYTHING bioware says.

just ask yourself how often bioware was asked about MP being in ME and how quickly they were to say no. when really, all along MP was planned since ME1.

again, your out of your mind if your going to believe ANYTHING bioware says.

And it has plotholes of its own, which is something indotrination theorists refuse to admit. It's a fun interpretation, but I just don't believe Bioware would use it

At the same time, no one who had Pinnacle Station was surprised to see MP implemented eventually in the series

If I remember right they dodged that question more then saying no. I could be wrong however.

My essential problem is that people who don't have internet connectivity on their consoles are inherently screwed.

I concur, I have friend who doesn't have internet access ergo :

- he can't get DLC (even some "all DLC" GOTY edition only contains download codes) even free ones like the Cerberus network.
- he can't get game patches (and given the way some games are released these days he has to hope day 1 bugs won't be horrible).
- he can't play multiplayer which is a special problem with ME3.

It's weird how internet is becoming required (just like Bioware is expecting you to use tweeter or facebook for feedback)..

I get the feeling their (always)big plans for ME3 are more the type of dlc's they did for DA2 that were to be played before the ending than adding extra endings or maybe rebuilding the universe...would be nice to be wrong but I have little trust left at least with ME...hoping better for DA3.

It could be just a PR game. I didn't expect them to admit a failure.

If this is true, than just this once I can forgive (I love the ME series too much to hold a grudge!). But never, ever withold endings again if it is a PR tactic. If for nothing else, then do it for the sanity of the poor forum moderators who have to listen to endless tirades on the endings.

If so, it was probably because EA scolded Bioware for missing the first deadline, thus forcing Bioware to rush the rest of the game.

Anyways, I take this response with cautious optimism at the moment.

I'm getting a very bad feeling about this...

"Play as Major Coats and find out how did the squadmates got on Normandy and what is Joker doing" DLC? I could see it being a plan all along, the way they were so building up Coats in the last mission raised my eyebrow when I was playing the game. Why focus so much on a character that wasn't really needed for anything?
