It's not an incomplete game, ME3 is an ending in its own right. The way ME3 finished was purposely done in order to implement future content. It is the last game in the series, so it makes sense to have big plans for the future of ME3. I see some people are already upset at that tweet... so now we don't want a change or clarification? Is the tweet still not reliable? I guess it makes sense for them to tweet it then never deliver on it... not. This is good news, and evident after paying attention during the ending - there is more. More ME3 - GOOD!
My essential problem is that people who don't have internet connectivity on their consoles are inherently screwed.

You know the more I see what Bioware is doing the more I'm seeing great PR at work. Over the last couple of days the story has been dying down on here and in the media and now, BANG! we have some "Information" that brings the story back into the media glare, you can bet that this will be on Kotaku and Forbes tomorrow when this thread reaches 200 pages.
Interesting. The only impression I'm getting is that they are not taking any of this seriously and are going to go ahead with whatever DLC releases they had planned pre-release. Maybe they'll add in a few extra lines of dialog to retcon the godchild into the story a bit earlier. Maybe there's be an extra 30 seconds of cinematics at the end of the game to provide "closure". But basically, they're not going to fix the end.

To be fair inconclusive endings aren't that uncommon in video games. Half-Life 2 had a pretty WTF ending (granted it wasn't meant to be the end of a trilogy, though).

That's really the issue. Halo 2's ending was kinda cruddy, but there was always the implied promise "Hey, we're not done yet", so we got to see how the story came together. As much as Bioware is saying this was always planned, Ray's statement he released a few days ago indicates more than anything that this is in direct response to criticism released by the fans.

Am I reading too much into this reply?
Yes.
On a related topic, didn't they say they'd release DLC next year? As in 2013?
It's gonna take em 8+ months to release a DLC? With EA? Nah, it's releasing tommorrow, more likely.

Most games now a days from what I have seen are shipping out incomplete, so they can gain more profits via DLC. This is one "solution" to piracy acts etc whatever the Distributors would like to call it.
The last game I played Rage was horrid for this. In the first map, you find a guy next to a sewer entrance, talking to him, he just spews about mutants in the sewer. Once clicking the entrance it states you need the DLC to enter this, and asks if you want to buy it now. AFAIK that was in since day 1 also.

Grateful? you serious?
I should be grateful because I had the "privilige" of spending $100 on an incomplete game?
Yeah right...

Valve is the only company who knows the meaning of the word 'free' anymore. I wouldn't get your hopes up.

You're 0/2, I'm afraid.
You see, I hate the ending and I don't care about paying for dlc. Do you really want to know how much I'm willing to shell out for this particular piece, assuming it's good?
amen Il divo.
Dez i am affraid you might have to get your trolling up a notch my good man. you current effort seems to be on the par with ME3 ending.

I don't buy it. Why would BioWare troll its fan base? Why let sales suffer in the short-run with negative reviews and negative word of mouth? Isn't the fiscal year-end in a couple days?
think of it like this
bioware ships game with incomplete ending
fans rage and return game
bioware releases dlc
fans go out and rebuy a new copy in order to acess the multiplayer
to those who did take there games back imo shouldve wated until the dlc was announced because now those same fans have to re purchase the title they just sold
now before you or anyone twists what i just said around i dont think bioware did this to troll i do however believe they did rush to meet the 3-6-12 deadline because they already had a 1 year pushback

From the ending (having just finished the game) I got the vibe that they still had something in mind for the series anyway. Like when you see your squad that was just with you when the Normandy was stranded. Crap ending maybe, but I think it may not be a design oversight (too obvious to anyone who's played the game).Il Divo wrote...

I think that cut to white screen before Harbinger is about to hit you is pretty telling; indoctrination theory or not a lot of things after that could be part of a dream sequence.

It's funny how expansion packs were not accused of trying to make more money. DLC is basically broken down expansions, they are cheaper and easier to obtain. In the end you get as much content as you do with an expansion for roughly the same price. But it doesn't make sense to actually make sense on internet these days
Wrong, call me crazy but old expancions did cost more than DLC today, but you could say that most of the time the expansion gave you a content that was almost equal to the finished game.
And back then companies had to pay for CD and distribution, now they do it at almost no cost...

The goal is to maximize sales. People will be annoyed (as I'm sure there are even people in this thread that are annoyed). You don't maximize sales by trolling the customers. Do you think this tactic is a net-positive for sales? Not from the evidence I've seen. It would be a major gambit on BioWare's part. Why would BioWare roll the dice?

I'm not the kind of guy to get enthusiasted by few words unless:
1-clear statement from official sources (check)
2-summurize what i'm expecting (uncheck)
But if to do a little synthax analyse.
1-"We never said we were changing it
2-"We have ALWAYS had big plans for ME3" could only be related to subject (the ending)
3-"It isn't a response-It's been in the works" Refering to Mr Muzyka statement ? but denying it influenced their plan as it seems they where already planyng something, and the "big plan" imply something huge (not especialy about huge contant, but making something out of ME3 memorable in the longer run).
So, congrat Bioware you got my hope up by 0.7%
I think the mass effect twitt is good if you want to give feedbad and anything related to the game it self as we know it, but it is not the kind of source i would interpret to my liking on he sensitive subject and future content they can't talk about yet (new info on april, not before).
So, wait and see for me, people who are getting their hope up too much could face another let down.
If it's going to be a good news, then it will be a good (awsome) surprise, if it isn't, well, touching the bottom wasn't that far so it won't hurt much more.
Just my 2 cents.
