Sorry if this has been posted, but I just had a right place right time moment on the Mass Effect twitter feed.

@masseffect @PatrickWeekes did you feel pressured to change the ending, Isn't it important to stick to your guns on some things?

@satootaku We never said we were changing it :) We have ALWAYS had big plans for ME3. It isn't a response-It's been in the works

Of course they said they wouldn't change it. I found that obvious. But they are ADDING to it.

"Its always been in the works".

And the response was directly to do with the ending.

Weekes is without a doubt the writer who seems to follow NDA the least, but I doubt we can read into what he says too much here.

More and more I'm starting to think they did have something in the works, but ran out of time so hoped the ending we have would stand on its own merits.

Otherwise... they've basically burned the fanbase but are waiting to apply the salve.

honestly this is a good sign. Indoc theory or not.

...

I never considered myself an indecisive person, but that was before I started following Bioware employees' twitter feeds.

It had better be some good salve.

I don't get this, they always had post-ending DLC in the works in a game where 2/3 of the time you can no longer play as Shepard?

I hope every single one of the Indoc. theorists and "the ending is not complete" people get to say "I told you so" in April. Really. Because there would be nothing cooler than the unreliable narrator take on the ending and it would make everything make sense in the world again. Even so, call me Thomas the doubter, but I will wait until I see it.

I don't know what to think, I think Mass effect 3 is the last Bioware game I am going to buy.

Come on ...  The ending was intentionally left ambiguous so more could be unlocked later through DLC's.  Whether it be Indoc Theory, Ultimate rainbow win, supermega grimdark, ride off into the sunset (then get shot by Marauder Shields because you didn't actually kill him), or more space magic...

It kinda backfired on them though, but I think the original plan was to sucker us all back in every three or four months with another DLC.  Of course they won't change the endings, they'll just add more.

Think about it for a minute, they can add more war assets, enlarging the pool.  They can tweak how the endings play out depending on your EMS - ultimate fail grimdark could be the new "just on the line" of EMS, and the super happy, high-five, brofist, Corona on the beach ending could eventually be achieved with a 20,000 EMS (with a healthy dose of reputation and in game choices)...

With EA, anything is possible...
