I think I'm developing bipolar disorder in response to the constant stream of real and fake updates regarding the ME3 ending/dlc content.

Well this is from the Mass Effect twitter and not 4chan.

Unless I am wrong or Patrick misspoke, this is the first time Bioware has said that the ending to the current game is not the real ending, or that a real ending was in the works.

The response was from @masseffect. Who knows who those people are, or if they're even in Canada.

I doubt Patrick would respond to the question, and I think he's on vacation anyway.

I don't know how twitter works and just saw the @PatrickWeekes in the original question, my bad.

So they are not gonna change the original ending because there's no original ending yet. And, they had this planed before the actual game release.

Well Bioware, maybe I still love you after all.

i mean this HAS been said MANY times before now. I just hope more people will have this reaction instead of...

"well um I still hate you anyways for making me feel silly, hurumpf"

sure its more official now. but that only means THOSE people will just be "officially" slighted instead of theoretically slighted.

I was and still am convinced that this was planned by Bioware. I just hope some of the stronger personalities here can respect this as the good news it is.

I don't get this, they always had post-ending DLC in the works in a game where 2/3 of the time you can no longer play as Shepard?

You play as Joker, and you're tasked with pointing at the things you want the crew to forage. Three exciting hours of gameplay.

Just like Pikmin!

But...I loved pikmin. :crying:

Who didn't?  Pikmin was awesome.

But it's not Mass Effect.

And if that's true, what of all the people who don't have internet connectivity on their consoles? They get to keep the "original ending". Yay?

If this is true, while I'm sure the ending would be more satisfying for me, I can't help but consider it a hugely bad decision to implement it in this way. It's screwing people over for no reason.

At least if it wasn't planned I can make the case they didn't screw people over intentionally.

AFAIK, they're not changing the ending, but adding more clarification to it, and that's it.

Sorry if this has been posted, but I just had a right place right time moment on the Mass Effect twitter feed.

@[/s]masseffect[/b] @[/s]PatrickWeekes[/b] did you feel pressured to change the ending, Isn't it important to stick to your guns on some things?

@[/s]satootaku[/b] We never said we were changing it :) We have ALWAYS had big plans for ME3. It isn't a response-It's been in the works

"Dr. Ray Muzyka-

On one hand, some of our loyal fans are passionately expressing their displeasure about how their game concluded; we care about this feedback, and we’re planning to directly address it"

Ok so i am playing devils advocate here but if that twitter response is indicating there was a master plan all along then why not just make a statement to that fact?

IMHO that twitter response suggests to me that the above qoute from Dr Ray Muzyka's response to the community is yet more exagerated PR speak to appease the fans, or as i like to think of it, lies.

I am not saying the statement to address the endings is false, it just seems to me the twitter comment suggests they always planned something around the endings. That being the case why not simply say that?

I am fairly sure at some point Bioware hired Alistair Campbell (need to be in the UK to appreciate that one) Image IPB

"This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue." - From same blog post as your quote =] There is hope.

Maybe the "surprise, jackasses!" is part of the masterplan.

I can live with that Image IPB

i cant believe people would get pissed off at bioware for deciding (if they decide so) to release dlc that helps us like the endings more.

even if this whole thing was a prank or twist ending, i cant believe people would really hate on bioware for it. so what, you spend another 10 or 15 bucks on some gameplay. you were going to waste it on some other game anyway. and who could honestly hate bioware for doing something different with the ending?. it would probably be the first time this has ever happened and would be pretty cool if done right

If they pretend Indoctrination Theory was always their idea, I wont even be mad.

If they "stick to their guns" and do what they "always had planned", and it turns out that they are just keeping the ****ty ending they already gave us and tacking more **** on top of it.. Well.. I'm leaving BioWare in the dust.

Bioware is jumping on the indoctrination theory and claiming as their own thing...didn't even thank the fans that came up with it lol
either way you sold a game with no ending

jk I hope after the dlc we have less speculation for everyone...

This fills me with relief. I had a bad feeling they were going to retcon something to appease the masses and I simply wouldn't have been able to "believe" any change after already witnessing something else. It is surprising that there is such a delay before it becomes available though, not sure that that was good idea at all.

Yeah, that's true. But I don't know, maybe we are looking to something bigger than a DLC here. Expasion disc maybe.

And well, I don't know if I totally like the idea that they gave us a horrible ending just to throw us DLC. It's too douchey, and part of an incomplete game.

We'll see how things turn. I have a baaad feeling..

There is no amount of "clarification" that can salvage the current ending if it's to be taken at face value. There's not really an, "I told you so," moment in the works here. At the end of the day, the end of ME 3 is either changed and given some modicum of redemption, or it's merely clarified and people remember Bioware as the company that fumbled the ball at the 1 yard line. I don't need to see twenty different camera angles of a fumble to appreciate its significance, and I don't want to see additional material "clarifying" how poorly thought out this ending truly was.

Edit: Of course, if it's the indoctrination theory I won't be upset. I qualify that as a "changed ending" rather than a "clarification" though, because it's pretty clear they never intended it to begin with. They still need to come up with an actual ending though after that if they were to use it (I don't believe they will use though).

I too believe they had this planned all along. The Final Hours thing doesn't disprove this, for all we know they have a top secret lair in Bioware that is unlocked via voice recognition where they are hiding all of their plans. (maybe a bit of a stretch but I do believe they did not reveal EVERYTHING on that app)

They want to milk ME3 as long as possible. I don't think they predicted the absolute ****storm that would happen though.

or maybe they dont care about the plebs that have no internet on xbox, if you cant afford a few bucks for internet you prob cant afforda few bucks for DLC. They were never the target audience.
