It very much makes sense to do it this way. People will want the full ending. Say they do provide it for free. We can't complain TOO much if it is free. Now, however, if anyone buys a used copy they will have to fork over for the Bioware Network which is NOT cheap. Bioware makes a ton of money from all the resales, and has minimal backlash from fans after getting a TON of free publicity which includes a Troll that helped out little kids!

To be fair, probably nobody doubts that Bioware had big plans for ME3. They couldn't have made such an awesome game for nothing.

But they still made the inexcusable mistake of falling too short on the information they gave out with the ending. Basically, there was no ending, you just stopped being able to play the game. With this same ending, even with the godchild and the "same thing, diferent color" crap, if they had actually given out more, most players wouldn't have felt so disappointed.

Even if they wanted to leave a lot of room for speculation they failed to find the right spot, and the game ended up feeling incomplete, which is borderline scamming Mass Effect players and fans.

or maybe they dont care about the plebs that have no internet on xbox, if you cant afford a few bucks for internet you prob cant afforda few bucks for DLC. They were never the target audience.

I didn't have internet connectivity on my xbox until I juryrigged it.

My modem is not where my xbox is to plug into. I am NOT buying a wireless connector for my 360. It's not an option to move the modem nor is it an option to move my 360. So, for a long while I had no connection for my 360.

Until I finally hooked my 360 into my laptop and shared the connection.

Point is, there's a lot of reasons other than "I dun haz those funky interwebz" that people aren't hooked up.

Why didn't you get a power line network?
www.bestbuy.com/site/Netgear+-+XAVB1501+Powerline+Network+Adapter/4742615.p

It's faster and more reliable than wireless (dropped packets while streaming movies on my PS3 were driving me bat****), and your router can be anywhere in your house.

We knew they were adding closure/clarification, though. What makes the OP tweet significant is that it suggests they had plans to add stuff before the outrage. Makes me think it's more than the dreaded "5 minute epilogue" guess that some people have.

When are people going to accept that this HAS been planned all along, not just to buy more time to finish the game, and not just to bring in more money (though those are both good reasons)

The real reason for all this is to give us the most interactive story in video game history. It's all explained here.

If this is the case... If this really is the case...

I will EAT my words.

I had a feeling, but it went down a darker road...  A VERY dark road.

For now though, I'll calm the rhetoric but I'm still feeling like a dog that got kicked too many times (seen it first hand... not a plesant sight).  So long as the real ending is a free dlc, hope is creeping back...

Very strange thing to say after all the venom.

Sorry if this has been posted, but I just had a right place right time moment on the Mass Effect twitter feed.

@[/s]masseffect[/b] @[/s]PatrickWeekes[/b] did you feel pressured to change the ending, Isn't it important to stick to your guns on some things?

@[/s]satootaku[/b] We never said we were changing it :) We have ALWAYS had big plans for ME3. It isn't a response-It's been in the works

"Dr. Ray Muzyka-

On one hand, some of our loyal fans are passionately expressing their displeasure about how their game concluded; we care about this feedback, and we’re planning to directly address it"

Ok so i am playing devils advocate here but if that twitter response is indicating there was a master plan all along then why not just make a statement to that fact?

IMHO that twitter response suggests to me that the above qoute from Dr Ray Muzyka's response to the community is yet more exagerated PR speak to appease the fans, or as i like to think of it, lies.

I am not saying the statement to address the endings is false, it just seems to me the twitter comment suggests they always planned something around the endings. That being the case why not simply say that?

I am fairly sure at some point Bioware hired Alistair Campbell (need to be in the UK to appreciate that one) Image IPB

"This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue." - From same blog post as your quote =] There is hope.

I don't care that they're planning on new ME games.  If this one ends like this, they can shove em all where the sun don't shine.

The pure thought of them pulling this off makes me glad.

Yeah I really doubt they will do the epilogue/wall of text at the end thing.  They know it will just ****** people off even more.

More and more I'm starting to think they did have something in the works, but ran out of time so hoped the ending we have would stand on its own merits.

Otherwise... they've basically burned the fanbase but are waiting to apply the salve.

It had better be some good salve.

Technically, we don't even know if it's salve or salt. I really hope the latter isn't the case, but you never know.

I really can't wait for next weekend. Hopefully we will get something more concrete from PAX.

they never used the word change, they said closure & clarify. they were never going to chuck the entire godchild a/b/c portion of the ending. we'll see if adding to it clarifies it tho

They've never said they had plans for ending DLC before this(the closure dlc issupposedly just cooked up according to the Dr).

These sereies of tweets seem to imply that ending DLC bas been on the table for a while now. Considering it's targetting tweets that deal with ending DLC to respond to.

If not whoever writing that needs their hands clamped as this is going to start a firestorm if it keeps up.

The tweet was in direct response to someone asking if they felt pressured to change the endings. The response was that they aren't changing anything and had something in the works since before the outrage. That seems significant to me, but the ME twitter has been unreliable before.
