so they release a game with an ending that most people hate

they decide to fix it by releasing some dlc
we complain again

do you guys not see how this makes us look?

I for one, am not complaining...  Well, sorta "not".  As long as this was planned AND free...  I'll (again) eat my words, and swallow some humble pie...

And enjoy it.

Not that I think this is what's happening, but this picture is so descriptive of what some people think, I felt the need to post it.

I've heard that changing endings would be setting a dangerous precedent, even if it has been done before.

What's never been before is selling a game with an incomplete ending. Buying DLC to finally conclude what *should* be self-concluding is the real dangerous precedent here.

Didn't FF13-2 do that?

They didn't say they were fixing the ending. They didn't say anything at all concrete in regard to the issues raised. We all knew they would release DLC - it was the last two words in the game, after all.

i know that. you misunderstand me

I'd be annoyed at them if DLC was the plan the entire time because why didn't they just say that a week ago and get it over with.

Honestly, it's not a dangerous precedent for me at all. It's something that will work once and not again. I'm never pre-ordering a videogame again, that's for sure.

Come on ...  The ending was intentionally left ambiguous so more could be unlocked later through DLC's.  Whether it be Indoc Theory, Ultimate rainbow win, supermega grimdark, ride off into the sunset (then get shot by Marauder Shields because you didn't actually kill him), or more space magic...

So let me get this straight, you endorse the prospect that they released an incomplete game for the sole purpose of later completing it with  DLC which would potentially and probably be paid release?
Wow.

They don't deserve our money for this behaviour. Maybe you like being abused, I don't.

If I wanted this sort of treatment I would walk into the rough part of town with my money hanging out of my pockets and being abnoxious to everyone.

No, I don't endorse it.  Especially if it costs us.  Read the whole post.

Believe me, I'd go back to raging if they're scamming our cash for an ending.

It will prove what we already know, that they are no longer credible.

All I'm reading is that the "additional content" was always intended, not "new endings" were always intended. I can definitely see why it could be interpreted otherwise, but that just doesn't compute with much of what we've already been told.

Why would Ray Muzyka bother with his official response if they'd always intended a different ending? They could've played coy, with winks and teases, all this time, leading on an excited fanbase. Instead, they've been giving off an understandable aura of deflated disappointment that their hard work fell flat.

I want to believe more is in store. Maybe more will come. I certainly hope so. No company would willingly take the abuse they've taken though, as a publicity stunt, or whatnot. Amazon approved returns of their game! That is not good, in case you're wondering.

We'll see what happens. I'll remain skeptical until proven wrong. I'll gladly take a thousand "I told you so" from you guys if I'm wrong. I really hope I am, my friends.

EDIT: half-dozen autocorrect errors. >:(

When are people going to accept that this HAS been planned all along, not just to buy more time to finish the game, and not just to bring in more money (though those are both good reasons)

The real reason for all this is to give us the most interactive story in video game history. It's all explained here.

social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/355/index/10373471

If this is the case... If this really is the case...

I will EAT my words.

I had a feeling, but it went down a darker road...  A VERY dark road.

For now though, I'll calm the rhetoric but I'm still feeling like a dog that got kicked too many times (seen it first hand... not a plesant sight).  So long as the real ending is a free dlc, hope is creeping back...

Very strange thing to say after all the venom.

Just don't lose hope. That's all we have right now. That's all Bioware wants us to have. Hope is the only thing that kept Shepard going. Now it is the only thing keeping us going. Maybe THAT was the synthesis they were talking about...
