Yes but I hate it when a game introduces characters I don't know and expects me to know them. Main reason I want to try the first game before I play the second.

Divine Divinity:

It has an isometric camera akin to Baldur's Gate but the gameplay is totally different. There's more combat in the game but it's very tactical at times and also very difficult at other times akin to Baldur's Gate. However, there's also alot of dialogue and the story is really great. The world is huge and open and there's plenty of side quests and caves to explore. The interaction with things is great as you can combine items with one another and even more objects in the world. You can pick up a chair and place it anywhere you want. There's also a reputation system in the game which means that your choices do have consequences. If your reputation becomes too low, certain characters will just plain out attack you.

The dialogue is brillant and the characters are great too.

Here's some gameplay:

As you can see, the game contains just as much dialogue as Baldur's Gate and Dragon Age and there's multiple ways to finish quests too. I'd say it's better than Baldur's Gate 1 simply due to the story and gameplay. For a 2002 game, the world actually seems alive too and the music is top notch:

Divinity 3 (called Project E right now until announced at E3) is meant to be an isometric RPG too and it will be - hopefully - coming out next year after Dragon Commander. I'm already calling it next year's GOTY.

Oddly, Divine Divinity has a more mature and dark fantasy feel that Divinity 2 has and it also contains elves, orcs and dwarfs who are at each other's throats. I believe you can even make them wage war with one another but I'm not sure since I literally destroyed every kingdom with my army of skeletons.

You could also get Divinity 2 DKS:

Unlike the first though, it's a third person RPG but has the same dialogue system, choices, emphasis on statistics and lots of exploration and side quests with multiple outcomes. The combat contains more action elements though but there's still tactics involved with summoning creatures and what abilities you use. You can even customize your creature that you summon to be a mage, warrior or something in between and what resistances it has depends upon how you customize it. There's alchemy and five skill trees allowing for good customization. You can also transform into a dragon and fly about.

If you want a RPG i suggest you to whait the baldur's gate enhanced ediction.. It's an old school rpg with an amazing story am unforgettable one... If you are not interested in tv things like voice acting and cinematics with shiny thing and huge explosions.. Those kind of games offers an in deph strategic combat and also amazing storyes...

Baldur's gate saga..Icewind dale saga..Planescape torment.. Nerverwinternights 1 and 2.. Are a nice bet if you are looking for amazing storyes...

Maybe there are not so much shiny now... Or they have not cinematics but for sure are better quality in regard of narrative and roleplay elements..
