She's her own person, she doesn't make compromises, or excuses for how she acts.

She owns up to her mistakes, and most of all, is just human. I'm hard pressed to find one other character who's like that in mass effect...oh wait, shepard.

As someone has simply and beautifully worded in another topic, Ash's really just a painfully realistic character in a work of fiction. Does not sit well with quite a lot of people, it seems.

Love how Ash fans generalize anyone who doesn't like Ashley as someone who just can't handle a "painful realistic" people like Ashley.

Dude, people hate her because she is a total ****.Image IPB

Well, we all have our opinions ^_^

i personally hated ash, she was racist in ME1 annoying in ME2

Isn't it interesting how Ash's so-called "racist" assessment of the races in the galaxy in ME1 is pretty much born out in ME3, too? Without Shep there to wrangle them into working together and helping each other, they'd all be perfectly happy to take care of themselves while letting all the other races bear the brunt of the Reapers attacks. In other words, they think nothing of throwing their dogs at the bear to save themselves.

The only race that comes close to being helpful is the Turian, and by then, it's too late without receiving aid themselves. The asari and the salarians are perfectly content to withhold aid trying to get their way because they haven't been attacked yet. In fact, the asari hold out on sending aid until they start being decimated themselves.

So, is Ash racist (and it's not racism; it's really xenophobic) or realist?

Why would I want a soldier on my ship that questions my every order, even though I'm her superior officer, and openly states her distrust for all my other loyal squadmates just because they're alien?

Why would I want a love interest that abandons me when I need her most and acts indignant when I'm most hurt and vulnerable?

Realistic? Possibly. Likeable? I found MORINTH to be more agreeable.

This is an exageration. She does not question all your orders and she COMPLETELY stops with the cerberus thing until udina coups where she brings it  up again and for a last time but with actual good reason, after she never even brings it up again. In matter of fact when you visit her on the hospital she cleary says "I believe you cut all ties with cerberus , case closed. And she CLEARLY trust all the other "aliens" in the ship by Me3....

Not really.

About as racist as renegade Shep in ME1, at least as far as Turians and Hanars were concerned.

I don't regret jumping in bed with Tali for a moment. Their little chit-chat on the Geth dreadnaught and her salty bitterness made it all worthwhile.

Overly exaggerating the way she questions Shepard I see. FYI, she doesn't distrust Tali and her distrust of Liara wasn't even a species issue so that "openly states her distrust for all my other loyal squadmates just because they're alien" talk is BS.

Ash in ME1: Why are we allowing aliens on board, skipper? *insert random poetry quote*
Ash in ME2: I don't trust you
Ash in ME3: (first half) I still don't trust you. (second half) Focus on friendship or romance.

Did anyone bother to talk to Ashley long enough for her to give you the dog and bear analogy?

In the first game Ash makes it clear that she does NOT think humans are somehow better then the other races. Her distrust of them is because she believes that when the chips are down every race will always put itself first even if that means leaving Humanity out to dry...and she was RIGHT!

At the start of ME3 the Council flat out says they will not help out Earth because it will buy themselves more time.

Doing my first playthrough and putting up with her crap for the paragon points was rough, ruff. Luckily it was almost worth it when she was ready to rejoin the Normandy and I told her to eff off. The complete and utter shock was very satisfying. In fact, the only thing more satisfying was ignoring multiple chances to persuade her in the stand off and finally getting to shoot her in the face.

Good riddance.

One of the options for the ending should have been for Shepard to call Ashley up and have her **** at the catalyst until he takes his reapers and leaves.

This actually made me laugh. I bet it would have worked too.

She could have saved the galaxy without firing a single shot if she had just met the star kid in the beginning.

You're barking up the wrong tree in this thread.  I have found that most folks who hate Ashley or even Kaidan for that matter, do so because they would rather see a game full of aliens.  Never mind that most of the alien races are not quite so gracious in regards to humans.  Your point about the council being one of them.  I've heard people hate on Ashley because they think she is a religious sort, although Liara (everyone's favorite alien) spouts "goddess this and goddess that" through all 3 games.
It's all so funny to me.

Another "people just hate human" argument? Please explain why almost no one hates on Kasumi?

I said almost, buddy. How often do you see a thread hating on Kasumi pop up compared to Kaidan, Ashley and Jacob?

EDIT: Saw the thread. OP was uttterly alone in his hate.

blah blah blah.....Kasumi?  She had almost no role in the games.  One loyalty mission in 2, one small part in 3, what is there to hate?
Just like Zaeed....people don't hate him because he says "goddamn" in a nice little accent..but no real substance.

The majority of folks on this site prefer aliens.  Hey to each their own.

Quite frequently. People have threads saying 'ALL human squadmates are boring and terrible' and include Kasumi in the list all the time.

Doesn't matter. It's proof that people don't just hate Ashley because shes human. Besides, a human hating another human for being...human is just retarded.

How often do you see Kasumi singled out though? I bet I could make a thread asking how many liked Kasumi and the vast majority would say they enjoyed her presence.

I think Ashley was well written.

Her talking about Shepard's affiliation with Cerberus created three things for me.

1. If I was her, I'd be paranoid about Shepard too especially if she knew Miranda wanted to place a control chip...
2. I had a sense of dread at Cerberus HQ, especially when Shepard contemplates being just a fancy VI.
3. I kept thinking that maybe she was right, and there would be a moment where Cerberus controlled Shepard. (Only it happened too late with TIM in the endgame in the citadel where no one could witness)

She was well written and well justified to be worried.

Then you have no claim that people hate her merely because shes human. She is a terrible and annoying character and that's why people hate her.

When you can dig up a post of every Ash hater saying "I hate her because she is a human" then we'll talk.

RogueUnit, we have lost track of the number of times people have said 'I hate all the human squadmates because they're humans'. If you've shut your eyes to them, then we can't help you.
