Yeah, with the last issue of TSG, we learn that Maric did in fact not die at sea, and was freed from prison after four years. And is now MIA.

Where he is now, we don't know yet, but if Maric is still alive in the DA present, there could be a chance of him returning to Ferelden and taking his place back on the throne regardless of any of Alistair's actions or even presence.

And if Alistair is alive in any case(be it king, warden, or wino,) he could be around Maric as an alternate scenario in DA3(Kind of like how David Gaider described what they might do with the OGB when Morrigan makes her next appearance.) Like if he's king, TSG's events happened as told and Alistair stepped down in favor of his father. If he's a Warden, he still went on the adventure, but without being King. If he's a drunk, he hears of Maric's return and goes to tell him off. Or if he's dead, Maric just returns and makes a few heads roll over his other son being murdered. :P

I support King Maric for Dragon Age III! xD

I too support Maric for DA III.
But, after reading the books (The Stolen Throne; The Calling) I do not think Maric would want to be King again. Nor would it be fulfilling to see that happen. He has had enough misery and has a world of grief to come back to--assuming he is not actually dead of course. Maker I hope he is not.

I do think it would make a wonderful plot for Alistair/Maric to come face to face.

I'd wait until we finish the comic series first, there's a reason they portray a skeleton with a crown on the main comic page.
