What it means to be an artist, probably. Something about importance of "integrity".

See, that's the problems with the endings: they weaken the integrity of the entire franchise.

who's really the artist here? The guys at BW who gave us a marvelous magic paint box, or the players who took those tools and made their own unique creations. The BW team amply deserves credit, recognition and accolades for being master artisans and craftsmen - the artistry, I submit belongs to each of us.

Net - I'd like MY  artistic integrity respected, please.

I'd say rant about "art", "integrity" then lash out at people who didn't like the endings as being "entitled", "bitter", and "whiney" fanbois who should get a life and leave "art" to the "artist"

Or some DLC thats vague about "explaining" the endings that will no doubt ****** everyone off, and costs $15,

Maybe he will announce an ending fix, or some other DLC. The DLC thing would suck though... but i would at least consider an Omega DLC. They really should do something about the ending though...

the only insult i see around these parts are the same people who still argue the whole ** art integrity** thing and how in there own eyes it isnt ** art**

Hey boy. Video games are not "art" They *may* be classified as an "art form". But it ain't art. The Mona Lisa is art. Mass Effect isn't.

PAX will be a lot more fun for Bioware staff if we already have the ending DLC. April 1 sounds good.

*sigh*
Bioware please have concrete news by the time Mike Gamble hits the stage at PAX. Just a "yes" or a "no" about modifying or expanding upon the current endings. And if you are going to do that give us some details, if you have people wait around and all you do is render the Star Child purple that will just make things worse.

I think he wanted to express this sentiment, as would many others (cross-posting from Something Awful):

Phylodox posted:

Jesus ****ing Christ...okay, actual ****ing artist here and I just want to say that I'm so absolutely ****ing sick of these drooling idiots babbling about "artistic integrity" and how "pandering to the customers" will bring about the end of art or some ****ing stupid thing. When you're an artist who gets paid to do arts, you do a good ****ing job or you don't get paid for the arts you did. If Michelangelo had painted the Sistine Chapel and then decided to half-ass The Creation of Adam, you can damned well bet that Pope Julius II would have kicked his grumpy ****ing ass. "Art" isn't some sort of shield to hide behind. It doesn't excuse your ****-ups. It doesn't make you beyond criticism and it certainly doesn't absolve you of your responsibility to fix them if you're able to which Bioware is most certainly ****ing able to do.

Upholding promises, standards of quality, and important core messages?  Not acting all high and mighty about it when you goof up big time?  Having the courage and humility to work hard to restore lost honor?

PATRON: I just want to say, I'm so happy you finally finished that series of portraits I asked you for!

ARTIST: Yeah, I really went all-out on the last one.

PATRON: No kidding!  Your personal style has really...  Wait.  What is that?

ARTIST: What is what?

PATRON: That brown stain right in the middle of her face.

ARTIST: Oh yeah.  I pooped on the canvas.

PATRON: WHAT!?

ARTIST: It's a statement about the ultimate futility of existence.  I think it's pretty deep.

PATRON: STATEMENT?!  I PAID YOU HUNDREDS OF...  IT'S RIGHT ON HER FACE!

ARTIST: Yeah.  Pretty daring of me, huh?  Makes me feel like a rebel.

PATRON: Please tell me this isn't the actual piece.  You're going to clean it, right?  Or do another one?  Or wait, this is a joke; that's not actually your poop, right?  Haha, funny.  You're funny.  But seriously, I can't accept this.  The rest of your work was perfect, but this is just--

ARTIST: Hey, don't go telling me how to do my job.  I'm an artist, man.  You're stifling my creativity.  Now where's my money?

you do realize it takes an artist to draw up the charachters right?

but i guess since the ending pissed off your childish mind you think now whawhawha it isnt art

kind of funny 2 years ago people were saying otherwise and now all of a sudden there crapping there huggies complaining about an ending makes something non art
