the only insult i see around these parts are the same people who still argue the whole ** art integrity** thing and how in there own eyes it isnt ** art*

Actually, your comment was insulting. And overly dramatic.

You see, I know plenty about artistic integrity. I just don't care.

well apprently its a subject you know nothing about

Upholding promises, standards of quality, and important core messages?  Not acting all high and mighty about it when you goof up big time?  Having the courage and humility to work hard to restore lost honor?

PATRON: I just want to say, I'm so happy you finally finished that series of portraits I asked you for!

ARTIST: Yeah, I really went all-out on the last one.

PATRON: No kidding!  Your personal style has really...  Wait.  What is that?

ARTIST: What is what?

PATRON: That brown stain right in the middle of her face.

ARTIST: Oh yeah.  I pooped on the canvas.

PATRON: WHAT!?

ARTIST: It's a statement about the ultimate futility of existence.  I think it's pretty deep.

PATRON: STATEMENT?!  I PAID YOU HUNDREDS OF...  IT'S RIGHT ON HER FACE!

ARTIST: Yeah.  Pretty daring of me, huh?  Makes me feel like a rebel.

PATRON: Please tell me this isn't the actual piece.  You're going to clean it, right?  Or do another one?  Or wait, this is a joke; that's not actually your poop, right?  Haha, funny.  You're funny.  But seriously, I can't accept this.  The rest of your work was perfect, but this is just--

ARTIST: Hey, don't go telling me how to do my job.  I'm an artist, man.  You're stifling my creativity.  Now where's my money?

again can you keep every promise you make?

also again show me the exact quote where a dev said i promise the ending wont be bad

if you can not provide the proof then yea your twisting what your reading

Can someone link me to where Bioware referenced artistic integrity as part of the reason for not catering to fans?

Exactly how many people are going to buy a DLC that takes place before the ending when we already know the ending. All three horrific ones! Oh wait... the single one with three colors. I will not buy anything until the ending is fixed. Period.

Also, this, as a reply to the post on SA:

go3 posted:

"My client base would rapidly shrink if instead of listening to their complaints I just took their check and told them to eat a dick while heading out the door.

Maybe I need a new job."

Enough about artistic integrity, let's prepare some questions for them, shall we?

"well apprently its a subject you know nothing about"

Sorry, but that's about as dismissive and insulting as it gets. You don't get extra credit just because you didn't add name-calling to the list.

who's really the artist here? The guys at BW who gave us a marvelous magic paint box, or the players who took those tools and made their own unique creations. The BW team amply deserves credit, recognition and accolades for being master artisans and craftsmen - the artistry, I submit belongs to each of us.

Net - I'd like MY  artistic integrity respected, please.

actually bioware are the artists and if anything we are the students buddy

they gave us the tool to do what we do did they not?

but i guess to some people : looks over and whoever it was i quoted* they would think my reply is insulting

If we are students then what have we been taught?

They SOLD us the tools and a semi-blank canvas so we could make OUR art. The supplier of a tool is NEVER the artist they merely made it possible for the art to be made, and in this case they gave us a canvas that alredy had the final touches... all we GOT to do was give it all the minor details and stuff

not insulting just incorrect.

You want... quotes from devs promising the ending won't suck? Are you trolling us?

If not, the devs promised "wildly divergent" endings, and said it wouldn't come to "A, B or C" but what we got is one ending with palette-swapped explosions and the choice of A. B or C.

*sigh* I hate people.

I'd really like to shoot the person in the face who first came up with the idea that video games is art.

Its bloody entertainment, not a frickin' statue or the Sistine chapel.

If you think video games are art, then a japanese video game about school girls and tentacle rape is art too.

*stomps off grumbling*

No, but you have a duty to uphold the big ones, and not hide behind silly excuses when you fail.  That's called "integrity."

What kind of a developer would, in their right mind, tell everyone that the game is going to suck and no one should buy it?

But since you asked:

"It's not even in any way like the traditional game endings, where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got ending A, B, or C," he said. "The endings have a lot more sophistication and variety in them."

So art again huh, Well let me tell you
It is a video game not a painting, statue, book, or anything like that.
A video game is completely changeable, other "art"(as you say) is often not.
a video game can be changed on demand, and that is what we have hear, demand
that is what dlc and patches are for
other art was not changed because nobody cared or how hard it would be to do so.
either way the idea of video games as being unchangeable art is invalid because other games get dlc to in order to please fans and you know what comes with that DLC, That terrible little thing called change... but wait people like that change so people just go on and enjoy it, very little people go WHINING about how the change ruins the artistic vision of the game and complains how it ruins the whole experience and how they "caved" to there fans.

Why should I go to the other forums? I can get the same result by following your posts around. I at least am intelligent enough to realize when I've insulted someone.

Okay, sorry I keep dumping on you guys (I intended the "pooping on canvas" analogy as an example of what is NOT artistic integrity), but seriously, I look forward to this.

Especially Weekes.  I hate to play favorites, but he's my favorite.
