The CIA has a paramilitary training facility for all its operatives. Every military operator who passes through it laughs their arse off at how easy it is.

Who would win in a physical fight? Well, Ash probably has the upper hand in that - yeah (though Biotics are pretty nice to have on your side too). But who wins in my heart? - Miranda, hands down. No offense to Ash, we had some nice convos, but I friend-zoned her in the first game for Liara, so...

@Sc2, that's your choice, I also like Miri, my second primary Shep has her as a romance everytime. But I think it unlikely that she would beat Ash in a fight, which was what I was arguing.

I wanted to see this confrontation so badly. It was my whole basis for the creation of one of my Shepards.

At long range id give it to Ashley since she could snipe Miranda from a distance.

At short range i'd give it 50/50 chance either one could come out on top in a fire fight thou Miranda has biotics.

Melee i'd probablly give this one to Miranda since as stated above she has biotics and Ash is more or less a streight up puncher if remember her dialogue from ME1

Edit: I was so keen to see a confrontation between these two in ME3 and have them both in my squad as they are my 2 fav female characters followed by Liara.

Do people really think Ashley stand a chance against Miranda just because she is a soldier?

First, comparing the CIA to Cerberus is erroneous. For one, we don't know what kind of training Cerberus give its operatives, much less how it stands up when compared to the CIA's.
Despite this, we do know that many people in Cerberus have military training comparable to any Alliance soldier. Just read "Invasion Issue 4"

Now, we can acknowledge that turian soldiers are some of the best in the galaxy, correct? In "Retribution", Kai Leng killed an entire squadron of them armed only with a knife and a pistol without any sort of protection. And this was before he was upgraded with Reaper tech.

Miranda fought Kai Leng one on one in the worst situation possible. Close quarters. As long as she prepared for the fight beforehand, she survives.

So, really, Miranda may not have what you would call a "military training" but that doesn't stop her from being almost on the same level as an N7, the absolute best of humanity, after he was already upgraded with Reaper technology.

Soldier beats spy man, it's sad but true. Especially with an m-76 X Revenant with Marksman powered up.

Oh Miranda would win easily, pretty clear she has significant combat training so its not like she is only capable of sneaking about. She is genetically engineered to be smarter, stronger, and more durable than a natural human.

But you are taking gameplay as parameters?

Many if not all of Cerberus's soldiers are ex-Alliance. While I would agree that Miranda has extensive training, she is primarily trained as a problem solver. Ash is trained to kill things.

Bottom line:

Ash needs battle armor

Miranda only needs swim suit.

Therefore Miranda wins by sheer plot armor.

Miranda, and it's not even close. Even Kasumi > Ashley.

You are ignoring the fact she survived a fight with Kai Leng who, juding by his videologs, would love to kill her.
Kai Leng was an N7, the best soldiers of humanity and this was before his upgrades. Ashley is not an N7. And, unlike Vega, I don't remember any mention of her being considered for training.
If Ashley fought Kai Leng, he would absolutely murder her.

The lore is heavily on Ashley's side. The usefulness of armour, heavy weapons, automated medi-gel dispensers, grenades, targeting implants, and sheer experience makes her a versatile, all round fighter. Miranda just doesn't stand a chance.

Kai Leng is overrated. A dying assasin beats Kai Leng. For the past three years, Ashley has been under the training of Anderson, the biggest badass in the Mass Effect universe. Come ME3, she's learned a great deal of battlefield awareness, as well as a variety of new skills.

Miranda knew that Kai Leng was coming. She was likely able to prepare something like an EMP grenade to escape.

I would love for this face off to be settled in some DLC.

In my eyes at least:
.
Genetically manufactured to be superior in every way, she can move effortlessly from formidable biotic and superior soldier to brilliant tactician and vigilant guardian. - From the Suicide Mission character screen.
.
Cerberus Officer. Efficient, ruthless, obsessed with human dominance. Possible recruitment candidate after Illusive Man's assassination and destruction of Cerberus. - Shadow Broker dossier
.
Miranda Lawson is an ex-Cerberus operative. At Cerberus, her intelligence, dedication, and leadership impressed the Illusive Man, who assigned her to head the Lazarus Cell... ..... A skilled shot and a gifted biotic, Lawson is comfortable in a pitched battle as she is in a boardroom. - ME3's war asset.
.
Plus, she was Cerberus top operative, can handle Kai Leng 1 on 1 and a lot of people across ME2 and ME2 recognize her abilities.
.
This is what I can think on the top of my head.

The Soldier is more versatile than the Sentinel who can use guns, biotics and tech skills? You can't be serious.

As for the rest, Miranda can use armor as well, her genes more than match any implants and she has more experience than Ashley, having fled from the richest man in the galaxy at a young age and spending the next 20 years with Cerberus overseeing the most dangerous and demanding missions in the galaxy. Ashley spent more of her time in peaceful colonies due to her family name

You know if that fight did happen and Ashley had Miranda pinned and was about to cap her. I wouldn't have stopped her.
