I already saw this, but it NEEDS to be watched (ESPECIALLY by BioWare--I promise it is actually helpful and constructive (and NOT a raging rant)). It sums up all the major problems nicely, calmly, and clearly.

It's also kind of funny in a light, subtle way. Please, it is DEFINITELY worth your time to watch!

While the video was really good and worth the watch I gotta believe in the Indoctrination Theory to stay sane. I'd rather believe that Bioware would troll us and get us to buy the game's ending separately than think they actually thought that RGB stuff was acceptable.

I might end up like Talitha otherwise.

Hello, haven't posted here in years. Anyway, this is a really good video. When he spoke about the Socratic exercise at 6:55 into the video, I thought it was a very interesting and excellent aspect to bring up.

I was almost starting to feel defeated... and then I watched this. I won't rest until this ending is changed. Completely.

I like how he explains how the Mass Effect 3 ending is a failure without even mentioning that it's a videogame.

The ending actually fails on a fundamental storytelling level, and breaks the rules of storytelling that are present in ALL media (film/theatre/books/TV/graphic novels etc).

Also, Dr. Dre beats make this awesome.

I swear to God, if there was a way to guarantee Bioware would actually watch this video I'd open my wallet to facilitate it.

Thanks for posting this, it reminded me why we need to hold the line.

The problem is every bit of evidence proves that theory is false. Especially considering how much BioWare's sales and reputation is hurting from this debacle.

That, and everything in the Final Hours documentary proves it beyond the shadow of a doubt.

Lastly, if the Indoctrination Theory was actually correct, it would have been resolved IN THE GAME ITSELF--and if/when the fans "figured it out", the devs would have subtly hinted (and gradually confirmed) it to be true, resulting in likely positive fan reaction. They could have even, at some point, hinted at a DLC that truly resolves the story.

It wouldn't be nearly as good as the ending BW repeatedly promised, but it would have been pretty good nonetheless.

Instead, BW is hurting, and they're insulting and neglecting their fanbase rather than giving subtle hints and confirmations.

Thanks for posting, OP. Interesting and witty analysis.

My expectations of April's announcement decreased substantially to one mere hopeful expectation out of pure need to wrap the ending somehow and move on but this video reminded me again that ME trilogy deserves way better than just kind-of-okay finale. After all, it's ME, the most epic story out there.

Anyone who has a problem with the fan backlash to the ending should watch this video. It clearly and concisely addresses most, if not all, of the major issues we have had with the ending as it stands.

If you don't have enough time to watch the whole thing (it IS long), the awesome thing is that you can watch basically any five minute segment of it and still come away with a significantly better understanding of at least one of the major problems.

I agree with him, save the crucial need to dumping the catalyst kid. While not being optimal in anyway, the catalyst kid just needs to be integrated into the narrative coherence. In other words, its link to the reapers and Shepard's ability to influence it (and via it, the reapers) needs to be empathized

Like Garrus said, yell loud enough and somebody will eventually come over to see what all the fuss is about.

We need to make Bioware watch this video!

There is a golden rule in Sci-Fi: SPACE KIDS ARE BAD. Once you introduce a Space God Kid to your story, you have basically degraded it to a level of a fanfic written by a 12-year old. Do not use Space Kids as plot devices, ever.

And no, don't tell me it is in fact an old AI or maybe an old race that reached transcendency - what I see is annoying brat and nothing else.

They just went full George Lucas stupid on this.

Very intriguing watch. He brings up quite a few valid and interesting points of which mostly emanate a constructive vibe. I particularly enjoyed the Narrative Coherence segment. The use of comparisons and analogies were spot on, fit nicely, and executed well. Those who do not understand the major dissatisfaction with the ending should definitely give it a view, for it should at least help them comprehend. The video length may seem intimidating at first, but as mentioned previously, it is worth it.

There are a couple of things in there that somewhat bother me, just minor nitpicks though. For example, he basically stated that Reapers are not already part organic which, from what I thought at least, they were. I could have misinterpreted what he said as well I suppose. Like I stated before, just minor nitpicks...

Absolutely fantastic video. Sad to see some people here saying "But its 40 min long!". Really?! You can't even attempt to concentrate on a vid that might just unify peoples thoughts and arguments.

If you can't spend 40 min absorbing the points made in the vid then you don't deserve a better ending.

But otherwise... This vid needs to be seen by Bio. I now consider it my thoughts on ME3 in video form.

This video is amazing and couldn't be closer to the truth. I so wanted to tell the starchild, "Heck no!" to his no-win scenario and hack his..mainframe...or something at the end > <. Yeah I'm not a computer expert, and especially not an alien AI expert. I would strongly suggest that the author create more videos, but I'd be worried he would makeone that challenged a viewpoint I strongly support and make me question my entire life so far and whether it was meaningless, which is just not something I'm ready to deal with at this particular moment.

I actually created my own Mass Effect 3 ending that cuts out the star kid based on my own play through the game. I'm curious to see what people think/will accept in terms of an ending. My ME 3 Ending
