i know this won't happen, specially knowing how arrogant ,stubborn, greedy, selfish, and careless about their fans. Bioware have turned into lately. still we can only hope, or imagine how differen't this game could have been, had we given a choice for a happy ending.
it would have been nice, if shepard could live, save the world, and manages to escape aboard of the normandy along with his , her loved one and friends.
who else would love a happy ending?

I wouldn't call that a "happy" ending. In no scenario can Mass Effect 3 end on a "happy" note with planets ravaged and militaries and governments crippled. That's more of a "survival" ending more than anything. Yes, one ending should encompass Shepard and the squad making it out alive, and it should all break apart from there, all the way down to Shepard dying.

... I kinda don't, after reading Anna Karenina ... But hey, if that's your cup of tea and others as well, then I wish you all the best.

Eh...maybe. But ONLY if you do everything a certain way. Get all the allies possible, max out your EMS and everything. I'm fine with bittersweet, and think that if there IS any happy ending, it should be one you have to bust your butt getting.

good ending should be result of hard work only, diplomacy, grinding in multi, proper character relationships,- just like me2 - if u screw up u pay for it in the end

yes i totally agree with you. what i hate about all the endings we got now, is that they are all too similar, all are horrible, every single decisions we make in this game, and the previous ones are all irrelevant. since no matter what you do, the outcome will be a disastrous and tragic one.

oh well, it feels a bit sad, to say goodbye to Mass effect for good, with such a bitter taste.

I'll be satisfied seeing my squad again, living with them after, w.e. Just so when I meet them for the first time on my replay of the series, I don't have to know that no matter what, I have to say goodbye to all of them at some point.
Breaks my bloody heart.

Well no, I would not like a Disney ending.
I think that the concept of the ending are good, it was quite clever to change the premises at the end of the game.
I am fine with the according to what you did if the best you can achieve is the galaxy is well and properly devastated (as opposed as utterly wiped out) and that in all cases the mass relay are destroyed.
The ending should be put into context, be set in exposition to the decision of the play through and have closure on your team mates.
Basically like it is done all the way through the game but not for the ending. IE I want the ending to be on the part with the rest of the game and so that your play through and the ending matches.
If something is added, i think it needs to be around telling the catalyst to get stuffed
and have 2-3 endings from that. (ie a black adder IV with your team or letting the world to its fate and escaping with your LI to a remote planet)

I certainly think that if you have a completionist playthrough, have a ton of war assets, and create galactic unity, you should get a happy ending.
Happy doesn't mean steamrolling the Reapers and farting rainbows. But having the characters who you've grown attached to survive, and having galactic civilization celebrating their hard-won victory and working to rebuild their tattered societies, mass relays intact, should be a possibility.
Independence Day, just for example, despite having dozens of cities be completely wiped out and millions dead, still has a "happy ending."

Define "Happy"? There's different benchmarks.
A universally "Happy" ending, where everyone shares a cake, and everyone instantly forgets about the millions(Billions actually) of lives lost in the last few hours (Star Wars).... No thanks. Takes all the weight of consequence out of the game.
Dragon Age had a pretty good "Happy" ending, with the whole Morrigan stuff. Did you really stop the Darkspawn, or did you just create a terror for another generation to deal with? Then there was the whole "You died" thing, which was pretty good too.

The frusterating thing is, in all the books/video games/movies I've seen, I've fallen in love so much with the Mass Effect universe and the Normandy crew(And Ashley Williams) that I've never wanted a happy ending more for anything.
...and that's why I think it would make sense to not get a happy ending. But yeah, one that you had to work your ass off to get would make sense too(No multiplayer).

I'd like a semi happy ending. I'd like my remaining crew across the games to live, I'd like the Citadel and Mass Relays intact and I'd my Shepard alive with his crew and LI at the end. Anything happier than that is stupid.
So no disney happy, but normal happy? Yes

Sure, I would have liked a 'happy ending' of sorts...I mean, not sunshine and daisies happy, but I would have liked an ending where I'm reunited with my squad. I think it should be attainable by doing absolutely everything, as a reward for all that hard work.
But first and foremost, we need an ending that makes sense, happy or not.

This article sums everything that's wrong with ME3 quite nicely. Glad I found it with a little help from Zhen-Lin.
