Exellent. But I do not think that the catalyst must go in order for the ending to be satisfying. But it needs to be integrated into the narrative coherence and thus altered.

Around the 10 minute mark is really worth watching. He lays it out better than I've seen before.

A very well done explanation of what is really wrong with the ending.
I would like to see something similar towards "artistic integrity" and it's abuse as a shield against criticism.

It summarizes up everything so well!

Especially how "narrative coherence" is all broken down and the purpose of the story is thrown out the window. Genius!
Also I love the silly tune when the Catalyst comes up.

I know this has been spun way out of control for what it is. Did someone in Bioware come out directly and say Artistic Ingerity b*tches, it is the way it is, or is it the news outlets using this to spur more hits on their site?

The one quote I saw someone in Bioware state this is

We’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received.

If this is all that Bioware came out and said on said horrid word. Then re-evauation is needed. If news outlets are saying that then they deserve the thrashing for it.

To the point since people fling it around in here and I am thread-jacking artist intregrity is designed to keep the vision of the writers and artist truthful to a degree. Now that does not mean it is concrete and static. It is ever shapping and changing, a vision will always change as time passes.

Now the video did an excellent job of giving a strong and well designed critique, developers dream of seeing from fans. The suggestions are simple, easy and does not infringe on artistic intregrity. While it is long in the tooth and could of been cut down slighty it was still well done. It told the narrative that people who like/dislike or anything in between of the ending that all can agree on.

I will be so sad but as many many other players will pay for the DLC to get some closure...just a little bit Dr. Ray? And for the...Let's be honest here. The real ending.

This video realy gets everything right..this guy is amazing...
Well explained, nailed every problem and presented a logical solution aswell.

@SwitchN7 i doubt that....this thing pissed quite a lot people off and even more then even i would`ve guessed. He got the Futurama-part quite right , atleast in my opinion.

I know what you mean.I seriously think at this point that no one even at EA(disgusting sob's who were able besides ORIGIN and ONLINE PASSES to remove the...GAMING MANUAL to save an extra buck,disgusting...)could have anticipated this hatred mongrel towards this tasteless business practice.But...There is a but...People like me will probably get the DLC or just pirate it(more likely this) and then after 9 years in my case hang up the hat on Bioware products...Sorry Dr. Ray but it's just not worth the "stress".

I just rewatched the ending. In my mind.

I replaced the Catalyst with Wheatley from Portal 2 and suddenly, everything made sense.

When I got near the end and met Space Kid, and he started talking, I literally said to myself outloud, WTH. It didn't feel right from that point, to the end. Other elements before that didn't quite feel right either, but I accepted it in anticipation of what was yet to come.

I am no literary scholar, but this vid puts the FAIL, into an excellent and well presented perspective.
