A very well done explanation of what is really wrong with the ending.
I would like to see something similar towards "artistic integrity" and it's abuse as a shield against criticism.
I know this has been spun way out of control for what it is. Did someone in Bioware come out directly and say Artistic Ingerity b*tches, it is the way it is, or is it the news outlets using this to spur more hits on their site?
The one quote I saw someone in Bioware state this isWe’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received.
If this is all that Bioware came out and said on said horrid word. Then re-evauation is needed. If news outlets are saying that then they deserve the thrashing for it.
To the point since people fling it around in here and I am thread-jacking artist intregrity is designed to keep the vision of the writers and artist truthful to a degree. Now that does not mean it is concrete and static. It is ever shapping and changing, a vision will always change as time passes.
Now the video did an excellent job of giving a strong and well designed critique, developers dream of seeing from fans. The suggestions are simple, easy and does not infringe on artistic intregrity. While it is long in the tooth and could of been cut down slighty it was still well done. It told the narrative that people who like/dislike or anything in between of the ending that all can agree on.
My quote didn`t imply that an explanation of artistic integrity should address bioware alone. Besides Rays letter it wasn`t mentioned by the company directly. Still, it is abused as an argument against change and even criticism by a big number of game-reviewers and even newspapers.
As the discussion about the games ending is a public one, I don't think it should be exclusivly regarding BioWare. If a concept like artistic integrity is brought into a discussion, it should be used adequatly and reasonable, no matter who mentions it first. As we have seen so far, the mentioning of it does evoke a strong reaction and a controversy, which in my opinion can benefit from a logical analyzation of the subject "artistic integrity" and it`s use in this debate. Just like this video addresses the controversy of the ending of ME:3 by a logical analyzation of narrative coherence in general and how it applies on Mass Effect 3s ending.

Thank you for this. I was not trying to sling mud at you for this, but it is truly grating people are just stating artistic integrity to anything using it as an ad homien. Also I agree since it is public stated we can discuss this matter. I was asking about the state of Bioware's AI, since people are just siding it with this. I have seen this from either side.
Also a logical analyzation of the artistic integrity of the gaming industry (not just Bioware) would be an excellent paper/essay/video to work on. Also I do say the video is amazingly well done, propally just needed some editing, but did an excellent job breaking down the ending without being flamebait.

I wonder how many millions of bullets have been wasted on the god-child by angry fans?
Well, he deserved every single one of them.
